I was taught in school that there are seven continents, but today, I learned that depending on where you live in the world, kids are taught that there are seven continents, two versions of six continents, five continents, and even a theory for four continents.

Damn, y'all.
Seven continents -- taught in China, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, parts of Western Europe and most English-speaking countries, including Australia and the United Kingdom
Six continents (1st version) -- taught in Russia, Eastern Europe, and Japan

Six continents (2nd version) -- taught in France and several places that are "former possessions", including Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Romania, and Latin America
Five continents -- recognized by the United Nations (!!!) and thus the rationale for the Olympic symbol; basically a "six continents" theory that excludes Antarctica
Four continents -- let's slam everything into three places plus Antarctica and call it a sound theory; recognized by clowns, apparently
A lot of the differences here are whether 1) North and South America should be combined and/or 2) whether Europe and Asia areas are combined.

My mind is blown, y'all.
