Wait. Facebook doesn't owe these people money. In fact they don't really owe them anything even the smallest bit of attention. They should be thankful a platform even gave them any awareness in world. Without a strategy to monetize it's not a business.
Social. Networks. Don't. Owe. You. Money. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

Thought already blogged this to death in like 2008 but might have to bring back old posts bec apparently is still missed. You need some thought behind how you monetize online. There's more potential than ever but you still need a plan. Maybe my April column will be on this.
So many articles on how brands can use influencers but not many on how influencers can monetize & not be at whim of any 1 site. Going to try & help in next analytics column. Core is you have to treat it like a biz (you need a plan, measurable goals, diversified rev streams, etc).
Still don't get why anyone would want to do this other than they really like taking selfies but think it's definitely viable business like anything else online. Have to get creative and think through to end goals. Can't just go to the beach and hope people will think you're cool.
