Thread: Unless the courts step in, the number of uninsured is going to go up _dramatically_ in 2018 due to legally questionable Trump administration regulations and waiver approvals. A number of analyses have come out in the last few weeks that are adding up to a big number.
2. Medicaid waivers designed to restrict coverage to adults: PWC just found that over 1.7 million low income adults are now subject to these waivers: goo.gl/tECKKT. And @GWpublichealth finds that a large majority are likely to lose coverage: goo.gl/X9JsDE.
3. So that's well over 1 million from Medicaid waivers now in process. @urbaninstitute found the proposed rule greatly expanding (distorting) the short-term limited duration exception to insurance law would decrease real insurance coverage by 2.6 million. goo.gl/t5owpJ
4. @safetynetplans put out a Wakely analysis that shows a similar range of coverage losses from the short-term rule: communityplans.net/policy/effects… 
5. The Association Health Plan rule will also significantly reduce insurance enrollment. The @Actuary_Dot_Org comment letter on the rule laid out a compelling case for the major potential disruption of both the small group & indiv markets. actuary.org/files/publicat…
6. These sum to coverage losses of several million people, on top of @GOP repealing the individual mandate w/no replacement. The relatively benign marketplace enrollment total for 2018 shouldn't fool anyone. A much worse environment if these rules are finalized & waivers approved
