1/ Corbyn and the people who share his politics on the far left have made shocking, hateful ideas seem normal.
2/ Since the Holocaust, racism against British Jewish people has stayed on the extreme edges of society. This situation is now changing. Because of @jeremycorbyn, antisemitic ideas have crept into the mainstream.
@jeremycorbyn 3/ For many people, Corbyn has been their only hope of a better life, even if this is a false hope. Because he says he stands for ideas that will be good for society, like saving the NHS, people have shut their eyes to the bad things he has done.

THREAD @jeremycorbyn @UKLabour a few weeks late, last weekend I watched the @BBCPanorama doc on #Labourantisemitism. I was expecting to learn a little but not to learn that much/be that shocked as I've been following the crisis for a while and speaking out against #antisemitism
@jeremycorbyn @UKLabour @BBCPanorama 2. However, I was INCREDIBLY shocked by what I saw/heard re. the abuse that had/continues to happen but ALSO the response to the crisis and doc. by @jeremycorbyn and @UKLabour
@jeremycorbyn @UKLabour @BBCPanorama 3. @jeremycorbyn did not appear on the show and his advisor that did didn't really add anything. All the responses accused people of lying and making smears/plots against them

This speaks to so much of how I feel right now. And so many others who feel the same. The levels of anxiety and distress are having deleterious effects on our physical and mental health. 1/10
So many of us are dialled in to a very real, very recent communal trauma. A mass industrial genocide not even 75 years ago and from which we still haven't even recovered our population level yet. Mass expulsions, pogroms and upheaval. 2/10
Antisemitic attacks are at record highs. Decades-old stereotypes, tropes and attitudes to Jews are in mass circulation. Extreme hostility, threats, and abuse are now the norm online. Acts of open street violence and intimidation are increasing. People are being killed. 3/10

As it's already started ahead of tonight's @BBCPanorama (9pm BBC1, folks!) we start the #PanoramaRage thread...

So far we have Momentum smearing the BBC, Ally Fogg of the Grauniad smearing #Antisemitism activists, and the usual Jewish conspiracy theories...

... the usual suspects are already to blame - Zionist Blairites, Blairite Zionists, and obviously Israel.

#ehrc #BeLouder

An early Special Mention goes to propagandist Ash Sarkar, 'smearing like a champion' in her defence of Labour's institutional #Antisemitism. (h/t @EuanPhilipps)

Its really not a great feeling being a British Jew right now.

For years I have been loyal to a country I love and engaged in its politics.

On the far right on the rise with its love of Soros Tropes I as a Jew am seen as part of a nefarious global plot. /1
On the far left also on the rise, I am an evil oppressive world controlling Zionist who wakes up wanting to murder Palestinians, as part of my Jewish identity is connected with Israel existing. /2
Then there's Islamists who believe the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and dream of a Jew free world.

They act on this too through terrorist attacks on a kosher supermarket for instance. /3

Really glad to see the Corbynistas taking the announcement of the @EHRC investigation into #LabourAntisemitism in such good grace..... Oh.
Because there's no Jew-hate in the Labour Party.

Exoneration is just around the corner.

Big shout out to my friend @jobellerina and my wingman and friend @EuanPhilipps.
We are not made of stone.
We fight antisemitism, it's what we do.
It takes it toll.
We do not put fighting antisemitism behind our support for left wing politics.
We do not put fighting antisemitism behind our career or our popularity.
We do not put fighting antisemitism behind a position in politics.
We put it first.
We know we are hated by large areas of the Party. The deniers, the antisemites and the 'brush it under the carpet' crew.
The fools who think it isn't ENDEMIC to Corbyns would view.
The people who have not yet realised Seamus will not give AN INCH.

I have posted some things in the last few years that I never believed I would see or hear in the city I grew up in, in the liberal, tolerant City of Sanctuary of Brighton & Hove. When I was first sent this vile message from a Labour Facebook group of someone suggesting that
“We need to march about this to the Synagogue in Hove,” in response to a candidate’s suspension for antisemitism, I cried. It took a reality check from a pragmatic friend to get me to stop shaking. It was reported to the police & CST immediately. I’m no shrinking violet.
I am always ready to stand up & defend my community or any underdog. That’s what I do. I work to defend, enable, empower those without a voice. The suggestion made by some that Alex Braithwaite’s suspension was racially motivated is a disgusting slur against everything I do

As a member of #Brighton/#Hove's small Jewish community I can tell you that there is something fundamentally wrong with our great city at present. Our community deserves more.
Time and time again these incidents happen here - in our home - and they do not happen without our community shaking their heads in disbelief.

"If you prick us do we not bleed?"
What is it about B&H now that seems to bring out the very worst in some?

What is it that makes some think they can use language they wouldn't dream of using with any other minority community?

Why are we - a comm. that has lived here for 250 years - now feeling so concerned?

Yesterday we saw a horrendous attack on a Synagogue in San Diego in which Lori Kaye (BDE) was senselessly murdered by a gunman and 3 others wounded. This is not the first nor sadly will it be the last attack on one of our places of worship.
Shortly before y'days attack in San Diego @NudderingNudnik wrote a thread about a credible risk to his own shul here in the UK that was considered of such seriousness that the police felt the need for a high profile presence during the Shabbat service.
You might be thinking these incidents happen in isolation or that the threat to us is minimal or exaggerated.

Sadly that might have been true a few years ago, it is not now!

Labour council candidate says party's own MPs 'controlled by Israel'
- @UKLabour local election campaign descends into shambles after another candidate is suspended for spreading conspiracy theories about Jews.
The new revelations come as Labour waits to hear whether the Equality and Human Rights Commission is to launch a full investigation into whether it has discriminated against Jews.
The party also launched an investigation into a separate candidate who backed Ken Livingstone over what he called the ‘antisemitism witch-hunt’ – and accused opponents of Jeremy Corbyn of using the issue as a ‘political weapon’ to attack him.

Oh just @UKLabour MP Grahame Morris on *Easter Monday* the day when historically mobs slaughtered Jews, RTing a Jew-hating conspiracy theorist w/ a video from GUATEMALA with a fucking BLOOD LIBEL about the Jewish state killing kids for FUN & exhorting G-d to forgive them for it.
This is basic old school, Christian 'Jews kill non-Jewish kids for fun' Jew-hate. Plain, old-fashioned, despicable Blood Libelling Jew-hate masquerading as concern for the Palestinians. It's not. And if you can't see it you're CHOOSING NOT TO & COMPLICIT #EnoughIsEnough #BeLouder
*WHAT* are you going to do @tom_watson @EmilyThornberry @Keir_Starmer @jessphillips @stellacreasy @DavidLammy @YvetteCooperMP, you so-called moderates? YOUR fellow Labour MP is spreading BLOOD LIBEL on Easter Monday. This is dangerous & you sit alongside him. #LabourAntisemitism

I had to take a break from the mad house of Twitter. I will admit I was scared, I'm scared of #LabourAntisemitism, I'm scared enough people dont care and I'm scared enough people don't think its real.
I'm scared people think @UKLabour can handle it.
I'm scared because I've been a witness to the abolition of decency in the party. This comes from the top, and many people find it abhorrent from all areas of the party.
The issue is they don't find it abhorrent enough.
They think they can *manage* it, or even, amongst the very arrogant, educate it out of the party.
This is despite the EVIDENCE that Corbyn and Milne are utterly committed to this path.
This is the biggest political attack of the Jewish community I've ever witnessed.

Here is a racist death threat sent to my workplace in #Plymouth last October, the same day similar comments were made outside my house at me.

This thread is about my 8 months of abuse and the Police and Councils inaction.

Please share and RT

#BeLouder #hatecrime #antisemitism
I know exactly the persons who made those comments and have committed other hate crimes since then

The letter was posted in the town we all live in

I have been reporting them to @DC_Police for a range of crimes and to @WestDevon_BC for anti social behaviour since July 2018
When I reported the #antisemitism @DC_Police officers defended my aggressors saying;

“This doesn’t sound like something they would do”

“The letter is almost too staged for them”

And the officer even asked me how to spell “anti-Semitic”

What’s shown in this thread is heinous and desperate.

Hamas is a militant Islamist terrorist regime who’s had full control of Gaza since 2007, with literally billions of dollars in aid, and this is how they treat their own people.

Hamas are ‘friends’ to no-one.
Posting this has already enraged some people, as it doesn’t fit with their worldview that people are either oppressors or oppressed.

I and other British people fighting antisemitism get #FreePalestine replies daily, to posts about cats or football - that’s racist.
I rarely talk about Israel, except in its right to exist, but when you see videos like these, I do wonder where the outrage is by those who seek out British Jews to abuse them.

Many people truly truly care. But many people are ignorant or racist or both.

Eddie Roberts of Wigan Constituency Labour Party says that "no evidence of antisemitism has been produced by the Jewish hierarchy, Tories all!" He warns: "If the Jewish race are not careful, they will be guilty of creating animosity towards them by their unfounded actions...". /1
If only they'd listened to him, eh? Four months earlier, Eddie wrote that "British Jewry ought to be careful what they wish for" because protests against Labour antisemitism "risk creating fresh waves of anti antisemitism instead of rooting it out and eradicating it." /2
Eddie Roberts has "spent a lifetime without having any prejudicial thoughts about the Jews". But since "loathsome right-wing anti-socialist creatures like Hodge, Berger, Ellman, Sacks and others" started criticising Jeremy Corbyn, he fears he's "becoming antisemitic" himself. /3

In my latest thread on #LabourAntisemitism I wanted to look at the personal impact of it.

We concentrate on the statistics, how the Jewish community overall feels, the processes and the challenges.

This is worthy, but let's remember the impact on so many Jewish individuals. /1
I am going to tell the story about my personal heartbreak over #LabourAntisemitism through the story of my life. The story of a proud Brit and a proud Jew, who has friends in all communities and does his best to contribute to this country. /2
We start at the beginning. I was born on May 6th 1990 in Jersey Farm, St Albans. I am the son of a Solicitor and Pharmacist who were active in St Albans Masorti Synagogue.

We were typical middle class family. /3

A recent study found that 40 percent of adults in the UK did not know what ‘antisemitism’ meant. *40 percent*. To combat antisemitism, we need to understand it. So without judgment, without reproach, this is what I've learned it means.. /1

Antisemitism, simply stated, is the hatred of Jewish ppl and Judaism. It's an ancient bigotry that has had thousands of years to manifest and mutate. It's why AS might feel so complex. This recognised definition is used by the UK gov. /2…
‘Antisemitism’ the word can be confusing. When you oppose it, you're ‘anti-antisemitism’. Unlike other antis, like antiracism, the double negative is awkward. Ppl say they're ‘fighting AS’ or ‘combatting’ it. /3

An example of a lie getting half way around the world before the truth has a chance to put its boots on.

I’m fed up of the character smears, but in today’s bizarro world, this week musician spends days libelling me, and for this is called a ‘Star’ by an ex-England footballer 🤦🏼‍♀️
Back in December, off the back of a shower of hate I’d received for posting evidence of the UK’s growing anti-Jewish racism problem with the left, I received this message from a teenage girl telling me I should be ashamed of myself etc...
What followed was a polite exchange from both parties, as we both explained our positions.

Weeks later, as the spotlight on antisemitism, and my part in that grew, this exchange was then used by some other people seeking to discredit me, to smear me as a ‘viscous child bully’.

Jewish Labour MPs outrage after Jeremy Corbyn blocks plan to ban Hezbollah
@UKLabour @jeremycorbyn… via @MailOnline
@EuanPhilipps, spokesperson for LAAS:
‘We fully support the governments decision to proscribe Hezbollah. It follows a long and at times difficult campaign by the Jewish community to prevent representatives of a barbaric terrorist group from marching openly through London.
But it is unsurprising that Labour have been unable to provide their backing, given Jeremy Corbyn’s alleged close relationship with them and his track record of speaking at their events.

In January 2019, @AngelaRayner spoke about remembering the Holocaust. Today they continue to serve an antisemitic leader as a member of an institutionally racist political party, Why? #BeLouder #LabourAntisemitism @UKLabour @jeremycorbyn

This might of course have something to do with why.
As might this

It’s really hard to understand why some Jews are antisemitic. I didn’t know that could be possible to all this. But I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Antisemitic Jews a teeny tiny minority but they’re disproportionately shoved in our faces as heroes and examples for the rest of us.
Im not saying all 200 of Corbyn’s chosen people from this list are antisemitic, but enough have serious question marks over them, to not want to be associated with them if you’re not, and definitely not held up as anyone to actually listen to...surely?

I’ve asked @daverich1 about this before. 90-93% of British Jews hold the concept Israel somewhere in their identity as such. That leaves 7-10% of others, split between some ultra-orthodox and left/right politics. That leaves a generous max of 5% eg Jewish Voice for Labour (🤮).

Antisemitism is on the rise. So how can we be good allies to the Jewish community? I consulted my Jewish oracle, otherwise known as ‘hubby’, and this is what we came up with. /1 #ActiveAllies
First it's vital to listen to the voices of Jewish people who are describing their experiences of antisemitism. Seek out Jewish experts on AS and amplify their work in your networks. @daverich1 @deborahlipstadt @DavidHirsh /2 #ActivelyListen
AS is an ancient hatred. Jewish ppl have been forced to wear identifying clothing, to live and work in restricted areas, be a convenient scapegoat in times of upheaval. To be murdered on an industrial scale. Learn its history. /3 #GetEducated…

Over the last two days I've been investigating antisemitism in Corbyn supporting Facebook groups.

Here I show an image, highlighting just a few of the many antisemitic comments I have come across.

Remember this comes from self-styled Corbyn supporters. /1
From top to bottom I explain the troubling nature of these three comments.

First to Terry Kelly's:

1. This is an example of demonisation of Israel crossing over in to antisemitic tropes around Jewish power seeking to control UK politics and pull the strings of politicians. /2
Now I look at the antisemitic nature of Nye Davies response to Terry Kelly.

First of Nye totally agrees with Terry's antisemitic trope.

Then Nye shows how demonisation of Israel can cross over in to antisemitism, through the idea of media owners spreading their propaganda. /3
