In a response to Richard Murphy's blog posted over the weekend, I think this is very insightful as to why the Tories are being so #cruel over #welfare #benefits and #CostOfLivingCrisis Support (a 🧵)... /1
/2 There is a new comment on The #Tories are now the most #rightwing governing party in the developed world:
"It could be worse than that. Maybe the rather tepid move to Labour in the polls is because of something darker.

What’s behind the Treasury idea that #GP’s should prescribe cash for those in #fuel poverty?
~ Richard Murphy…
/2 According to the Guardian ‘GPs could write prescriptions for money off energy bills for the most vulnerable under a plan drawn up by the Treasury’. Let’s just think about that for a moment. A thread….
/3 To provide a caveat, the #Treasury has not said Team #Truss has adopted this plan as yet, but it’s been put out as an idea for a reason, and it must exist, so what’s wrong with this proposal? #ToriesWrong #CostOfLivingCrisis

So more on #FishiRishi and Mrs Rishi. Let me first point out that I’m not having a go at her personality or looks. Nor am I dissing his family…

Firstly there’s no way he doesn’t know everything about her finances. He knows exactly where every penny comes from….
He would know and would have advised her financially before he became Chancellor. So Non Dom it states that a persons permanent home is outside the Uk!! Does she not live permanently in the Uk? No laws have been broken but it is immoral. With people struggling with the…..
#CostOfLivingCrisis people are obviously upset. Politically @RishiSunak has committed an unforgivable act. Tax rises, increase in interest rates, cost of fuel increases yet fat cats get fatter. Yet again the #ToryIncompetence lives on, …..

This is your daily reminder that Germany 🇩🇪 which has 20 million more citizens than the UK spent less than 1 (one) Billion pounds on their Track and Trace system. And didn’t run out of money.

The Tories spent 37 Billion pounds and ran out of money.
It vanished in Tory companies
2/5 As a reminder: The total cost of running the state of the United Kingdom is 101 Billion pounds. The Tories intentionally spent 37 Billion pounds, more than a third of the total state budget on a failing system. It never worked properly. But they knew this. Some “consultants”
3/5 for Track+Trace earned thousands A DAY. (!)
Money had to be “burned”/ given to Tory Donors in the quickest , most wasteful ,ineffective way, so that that money -the absolutely UNBELIEVABLY AND RIDICULOUSLY HIGH SUM would be ready and waiting once the pandemic was over and

We're flipping doomed

We'll never get rid of a Tory government with these boundary change proposals

I do agree that some redistricting is necessary due to population growth in certain places but this does seem to favour the conservatives massively
Interesting to note that current constituency boundaries have been in use since 2010. Neither of the two previous boundary reviews (in 2013 & 2018) have been adopted or implemented

Both 2013 & 2015 recommended dropping the number of parliamentary seats by 50 to 600
The 2023 change keeps the number of MPs at 650

the changing of the boundaries would see an increase in seats in England from 533 to 543 with both Wales and Scotland having the number of seats representing them reduced.

This would lead to an estimated +15 for CON & -4 LAB

Lots of #heatpump chat today.. The £450m pot to provide £5k subsidies for climate friendly heat pumps is enough to convert the heating systems of 90k homes over three years - or around 0.3% of all homes. Which won’t make a dent in our CO2 emissions. @BorisJohnson
We have 20 years to do 100%. This is a covid like gamble and economic nonsense. Heat pumps have a 5 to 10 year payback on a large upfront cost. Similar to solar panels that have taken 20 years to reach about 8% of homes when we ought to be at 25%. We need #ClimateActionNow
So do the maths. 0.1 percent a year 20 years 2%. We need to install at 50 times this rate for 2 decades and most homes will also need a huge insulation upgrade or they wont work. How many can afford the up front investment? Experience with solar suggests about 10% #ToryShambles

So this is the response I have from our MP regarding #EndOurCladdingScandal #firesafetybill
Leaseholders should live in homes that are safe and have the right to expect that their home has been built to a high standard.
Developers should be putting right what is wrong with properties and I believe that they have a legal responsibility to do so.
Whilst many developers have acted responsibly in arranging surveys and completing remedial works, almost all have been slowed down by the pandemic, a lack of assessors, testing delays and the sheer scale of the task at hand.
