As a long time Progressive Conservative M.L.A. and Cabinet Minister during Alberta’s Lougheed era, in 2015 I was an ardent advocate of electing an NDP government. The incumbent conservative government had grown out of touch, arrogant, and shoddy. #ableg #abpoli #abndp #abparty
I hoped the Conservative Party would learn humility, choose a visionary, disciplined, & democracy inspired leader, & re-emerge as a party worthy of support. It certainly didn’t happen. Since 2019, Alberta has been governed by a Zombie party that doesn’t ‘t deserve a 2nd chance.
Alberta deserves the best possible leadership, because it is a community of great promise. I knew Peter Lougheed up close, for the entire 20 years of his commitment to Alberta. In 2023 he would be working with a vision for Alberta. He would be including everyone. He would be

I just want to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible supporters who chipped in over the past few days and weeks. Your support is always overwhelming and it means so much to myself and our caucus. 🍊

I got off the phone with Brandon at Party Headquarters earlier today, and I couldn’t be more excited with the results from our big end-of-quarter fundraising campaign.

#ableg 🥳
Our movement is built by people like you raising your voice, amplifying our work, and chipping in when they can – and our fight for a better #Alberta will continue strong because we have people like you in our corner. ✅

@AlbertaParty It’s unfortunate Ableist folks in #Yyc Bow w/ #AbNDP couldn’t be bothered to apologize to deaf people they chose to excluded from their AGM. However it’s good to know one of the persons responsible for making deaf folks feel excluded is leaving. Let them blame me. Image
I am including an email from a deaf advocate that was sent to every NDP MLA. They ignored it. 1..... ImageImageImageImage

New data shows that automobile insurance premiums have dramatically increased since Jason Kenney removed the cap on rate increases.

According to data compiled by, rates have increased by more than 22 per cent for Albertans in the past year.

In August 2019 the UCP removed the five per cent rate cap on insurance premiums implemented by our #abndp government.
We previously confirmed through the Alberta Lobbyist Registry that before the cap was lifted, #UCP Campaign Director and former Jason Kenney Chief of Staff Nick Koolsbergen registered to lobby the Premier and Minister of Finance to remove the cap on auto insurance rate increases.

Polls are just one snapshot in time. We need our team of volunteers to keep reaching out to people by phone, and having those important one-on-one conversations with Albertans about the things that matter to them.

September 30th is the end of Q3, and then Elections Alberta will report on how much we raised in comparison to the UCP.

Can you donate before Wednesday to help keep our phone bank growing and help keep our momentum strong?

We can do amazing things together. Last quarter was proof.

Thanks to the generosity of Albertans like you, we surpassed the UCP’s deep-pocket donors for the first time in a long time - a massive achievement! You proved that every bit really does count. Image
But we’re coming up on the end of another quarterly fundraising deadline on Sept 30. Our opponents will be watching to see if we can pull it off again. We need to prove that our success was because of hard work and everyone pitching in.

Fundraising numbers are publicly reported and show our strength as a movement. We need to keep up the momentum to show Albertans that voters are turning away from Jason Kenney and that only Rachel Notley can defeat the UCP.

When we were in government, Labour Day was a time to reflect on the progress we had made together on safer workplaces and ensuring hard-working families could make ends meet, and on our next steps.

✅ Steps like increasing the minimum wage to $15 per hour, to make sure a worker didn't have to go to the food bank after her shift to feed her family.
✅ Steps like our affordable child care pilot centres offering almost 1,300 quality, $25 a day child care spaces helping more Alberta women enter or stay in the workforce.

COVID-19 has changed how we do outreach and organizing. We’re working on how to reach you and your community in safer, more convenient ways – because your needs matter more than ever.
We don’t have deep-pocketed donors to support our work like Jason Kenney. We need your help to keep up the work and we need it now – there’s only a couple days before our quarterly deadline.

It's election day. I'm not going to post a photo of my ballot (illegal), but I will share some of my thoughts. (thread) #ableg #ucp #abparty #abndp
If you are voting for a pipeline, please recall that the Federal government determines the pipeline outcome. I think it highly likely that a Kenney government, by undoing the climate leadership plan, kills that possibility.
If you are voting against equalization, please think of all taxation as equalization. Those who make more, pay more taxes but we all get the same services. Equal.

After looking at the platforms, additional information and the leaders debate this is what I am let with. ALL parties will be running a deficit. Oil revenue paid for a lot of things which allowed us to have low taxes 1/ 18
#abvote #abpoli #shpk #yeg #yyc #strathco
Oil prices crash, we have been through this often. And every time it happens it is the same. Jobs are lost, people's lives go off the rails and the Alberta economy crashes. This time is no different than the last time or the time before. We have some hard choices to make 2/18
Just looking at the top 2 parties. At the end of the next 4 year term #UCP will have us at 86 bill in debt and #abndp will have us at 95 bill in debt. This is a difference of 9 bill over a 4 year term or 2.25 bill per year. So what does each plan get us? 3/18

I have some words to say regarding a lowered wage for people under the age of 18. I have real life experience and some pretty harsh opinions on why this isn't a good idea and why this isn't a fair idea.
#ableg #abpoli #abvote #FightFor15 #abndp #UCP
Point #1. I was on my own paying rent, utilities, food, clothing & transportation when I was 16. My rent, utilities, food, clothing and transportation was NOT at reduced cost because of my age so why should my wage have been reduced because of my age?
Unless we don't care about putting vulnerable people in poverty and holding them there? Unless we don't care about all people in society and if they have the ability to meet their basic needs?

#BalanceForBetter THREAD: For too long, women in our province have faced barriers to work, unequal pay and high levels of violence.
On #IWD2019 I’m so proud of the concrete steps that @RachelNotley and our government have taken to make REAL, positive change for women.
Steps like:
Creating the first standalone Ministry for the Status of Women in the country.
Proclaiming May as Sexual Violence Awareness Month.
Increasing supports for survivors of sexual violence + increasing funding for women’s shelters. #IWD2019
We passed Safer Spaces legislation allowing Albertans experiencing domestic violence to break a lease and flee their homes. This helped over 400 people in the first year after it was passed.
We covered the cost of abortion pill so it is free to all women who need it. #IWD2019

Thread: Markham Hislop (@politicalham) of Energi News made a presentation at an Alberta Party-Sherwood Park fundraiser last evening. He touched on several topics. Many are laid out in detail in his “Alberta carbon tax deep dive” article… @abparty #ableg
2/ Here are some of his key remarks, as jotted down during his talk. Presented as quotes, although they’re paraphrases.
3/ There’s no data to support the claim that the Alberta carbon tax is a job killer. Yet, anyway. Studies done on BC’s carbon tax (implemented in 2008) show small losses in low-skilled jobs, balanced by increases in other areas. Overall, a wash.

Jason Kenney's UCP are defending a candidate for nomination who said a Mosque would be a threat to Alberta's natural resources.

Why are they justifying her hateful views from just 3 years ago, instead of standing up for Albertans?

#abpoli #ableg #abndp…
Wait. There's more.

In December 2015, Cindy Ross said,
“Why is it the police and government are on the muslim side?”

And, she said, "this democracy thing" is "an illusion.”

Does Jason Kenney still want to keep Cindy Ross on the ballot?

#ableg #abpoli #abndp
In December 2015, Cindy Ross wrote,

“Stop sharia law creep in its tracks...Stop being so concerned about being politically correct. The faith itself says to kill the non Muslim (the correct Muslim) believers.”

Why is Jason Kenney standing by Ms. Ross?
