It's election day. I'm not going to post a photo of my ballot (illegal), but I will share some of my thoughts. (thread) #ableg #ucp #abparty #abndp
If you are voting for a pipeline, please recall that the Federal government determines the pipeline outcome. I think it highly likely that a Kenney government, by undoing the climate leadership plan, kills that possibility.
If you are voting against equalization, please think of all taxation as equalization. Those who make more, pay more taxes but we all get the same services. Equal.

After looking at the platforms, additional information and the leaders debate this is what I am let with. ALL parties will be running a deficit. Oil revenue paid for a lot of things which allowed us to have low taxes 1/ 18

Oil prices crash, we have been through this often. And every time it happens it is the same. Jobs are lost, people's lives go off the rails and the Alberta economy crashes. This time is no different than the last time or the time before. We have some hard choices to make 2/18
Just looking at the top 2 parties. At the end of the next 4 year term #UCP will have us at 86 bill in debt and #abndp will have us at 95 bill in debt. This is a difference of 9 bill over a 4 year term or 2.25 bill per year. So what does each plan get us? 3/18

I have some words to say regarding a lowered wage for people under the age of 18. I have real life experience and some pretty harsh opinions on why this isn't a good idea and why this isn't a fair idea.

Point #1. I was on my own paying rent, utilities, food, clothing & transportation when I was 16. My rent, utilities, food, clothing and transportation was NOT at reduced cost because of my age so why should my wage have been reduced because of my age?
Unless we don't care about putting vulnerable people in poverty and holding them there? Unless we don't care about all people in society and if they have the ability to meet their basic needs?

#BalanceForBetter THREAD: For too long, women in our province have faced barriers to work, unequal pay and high levels of violence.
On #IWD2019 I’m so proud of the concrete steps that @RachelNotley and our government have taken to make REAL, positive change for women.
Steps like:
Creating the first standalone Ministry for the Status of Women in the country.
Proclaiming May as Sexual Violence Awareness Month.
Increasing supports for survivors of sexual violence + increasing funding for women’s shelters. #IWD2019
We passed Safer Spaces legislation allowing Albertans experiencing domestic violence to break a lease and flee their homes. This helped over 400 people in the first year after it was passed.
We covered the cost of abortion pill so it is free to all women who need it. #IWD2019

As @UAlberta Medical Isotope & Cyclotron Facility remains sabotaged, @JustinTrudeau $50 mil re-investment in BC is looking lovely. But @gmbutts resigned & PMO is in chaos. Can Alberta recapture the billion dollar Theranostics & Medical Isotope Industry it lost? Yes #abpoli #ableg
This is not #LavScam #SNCLavalinGATE #SNCLavalinScandal. But Alberta Health Services did recently sign huge contract with @SNCLavalin for Connect Care and did destroy Alberta's Medical Isotopes & Theranostics Industry from 2015-18 which @JustinTrudeau personally re-launched in BC
This is a big 5-year project for @SNCLavalin called "Transforming Alberta's HealthCare System". Interestingly this has never been officially announced by the Alberta NDP. #ableg #abpoli #abNDP

Thread: Markham Hislop (@politicalham) of Energi News made a presentation at an Alberta Party-Sherwood Park fundraiser last evening. He touched on several topics. Many are laid out in detail in his “Alberta carbon tax deep dive” article energi.news/quarterly-seri… @abparty #ableg
2/ Here are some of his key remarks, as jotted down during his talk. Presented as quotes, although they’re paraphrases.
3/ There’s no data to support the claim that the Alberta carbon tax is a job killer. Yet, anyway. Studies done on BC’s carbon tax (implemented in 2008) show small losses in low-skilled jobs, balanced by increases in other areas. Overall, a wash.

Jason Kenney's UCP are defending a candidate for nomination who said a Mosque would be a threat to Alberta's natural resources.

Why are they justifying her hateful views from just 3 years ago, instead of standing up for Albertans?

Wait. There's more.

In December 2015, Cindy Ross said,
“Why is it the police and government are on the muslim side?”

And, she said, "this democracy thing" is "an illusion.”

Does Jason Kenney still want to keep Cindy Ross on the ballot?

#ableg #abpoli #abndp
In December 2015, Cindy Ross wrote,

“Stop sharia law creep in its tracks...Stop being so concerned about being politically correct. The faith itself says to kill the non Muslim (the correct Muslim) believers.”

Why is Jason Kenney standing by Ms. Ross?

When I had my company running I had about 15-20 men working at any given time. Their pay was around 80-120,000 depending. My sis-in-law the feminist was pissy because I didn’t have one female working for me in over 20 years. 1/
I explained that women weren’t interested in working that hard to make this kind of money. BS she said. I was just a sexist, redneck asshole. So, I offered her a job. I told her there were no favors coming and she’d be expected to keep up with our newest employee a 2/
22 year old fresh from NAIT. He was a tall gangly guy who she was sure she’d keep up to. Over the weekend I gave her our 800 pages of safety literature and tested her on the pertinent parts only. Then, Monday morning at 4:AM we took off for Nordegg.
