I'm at a hotel in downtown Toronto, where Doug Ford is gonna be making some kind of announcement. Election day minus two, folks/friends/folks.

Alright, he's about 30 minutes late, but it seems that Ford is coming soon.

Whole whack of journalists here, with everyone seemingly interested in the revelations to come out of a lawsuit filed by Ford's late brother's widow.

A lot of the coverage has focused on Ford not supporting his sister-in-law and her kids. What's more interesting, to me, is that she is alleging Ford (and his brother Randy) presided over a decline in their company's value.

Remember that Ford has built so much of his political brand around his success at Deco Labels & Tags. If it's true that it shed $5 million in value over ~7 years (as is alleged in the court docs) that doesn't bode well for Ford.

Anyway, Ford is speaking now. The whole "announcement" is about how the Ontario NDP is dangerous and radical and whatnot.

Ok, questions. "We're shocked," says Ford of the lawsuit. "I'll let you decide the motive."

"Those claims are false and without merit, and I can tell you that it's going to be proven in court," says Ford about how Deco Labels is doing financially.

Doug Ford says he's "had more media access than the other candidates combined" which, may I say: lol, nope

Q: Will you make the audited statements from Deco public?
Ford: it'll be proven in court...this isn't about Deco.

Ford asked again about the lawsuit. Still no answer about Deco's financials. Also won't answer why his team outed Renata's personal problems.

That was.... Not illuminating.

I kind of expected Ford to say "hey, I can't fork over Deco's financials right now, because [business reason.]" And truthfully, I think that would have been okay.

But instead he waved his hands, said "think of the children!" and "wait for the trial!" and that was that.
