Weldon’s career in Congress ended in 2006 after the FBI raided his daughter’s office and home. The Justice Department was probing his actions supporting a Russian-managed oil & gas company that gave his daughter a $500K contract for PR work

Artemenko said he met in Russia in 2016 with two members of the Russian Duma to brief them on the plan and they “responded positively to the ideas.” He also discussed his plan with former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
