The turnaround time between the media condemning Melania for things like plagiarism, defending her godawful husband, and being empty and soulless and the media treating her like some unspoiled princess kept locked in a cave by an ogre is getting quicker and quicker.
I get that whatever unholy agreement she entered into with Trump when they married guarantees that she’d lose everything if she filed for divorce, but it’s not like Trump’s history pre-2005 doesn’t speak for itself.
I honestly believe her primary motivation for marrying him was the opportunity to lead a wealthy, privileged, glamorous life. While I certainly can’t fault her for that (god knows I’d love a sugar daddy), I can fault her for her constant tone-deaf defenses of her husband.
Any time she talks about her family’s “values,” she sounds like someone who’s never even heard of Donald Trump. Every defense of him paints a picture of him separated 180° from the picture he paints of himself.
Occasionally refusing to hold his hand or humor his bullshit in public isn’t some subtle “I’m with you” message she’s sending to America, it’s typical married life. Have you ever been pissed at your SO while stuck in a situation where you had to pretend you weren’t?
Because I’ve been on both sides of that with pretty much everyone I’ve ever dated. Parties, concerts, family Thanksgivings, one of us being quietly pissed at the other while wearing our game faces. It’s a pretty typical part of being in relationships.
Some people are better at hiding it than others (my mom is reigning champion of New England in that regard), and like most things Melania tries to do without just copying someone else’s homework, she’s terrible at it.
Which is amazing, because from what I’ve seen Melania has two, maybe three facial expressions at most. She’s like a 404- PAGE NOT FOUND error message in human form.
