I thought I would give a go at a nice little tweet thread today, sharing my key takeaways from #DWX18.
Monday started off with workshops from some amazing teachers like Dion Hinchcliffe, Tony Byrne, Rita Zonius, and Edward Taylor and Kevin Olp of @DWG. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
.@RitaZonius coached her attendees not focus on adoption. Build value and adoption will follow. This got me thinking that maybe we should rethink how we use that label in our efforts. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
Tony Byrne shared a great slide that translated product features to business outcomes. Love it! #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
I noticed that a lot of companies seem to be forming or have formed #UX teams under their #DigitalWorkplace brands. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
This made me think that I need to go back and review the newly minted #DigitalWorkplace capability framework we’ve developed and ensure that the #UX domain covers research, design, prototyping, and more. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
We should really put a simple feedback form on our search results page. It’s a dangerous proposition, I know, but it isn’t hard to do and we probably deserve to hear the feedback (it’s not going to be good). #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
We may be pushing a toxic culture of work that requires overwork and imbalance by advancing always on, connected digital tools. (I ended up blogging about this a bit: bit.ly/2Ig6Prl) #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
It would be nice if our #DigitalWorkplace came with a master off switch so that anyone could just turn off the flow if they needed to or wanted to. Users should be able to have the ability to schedule when they are “off the clock.” #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
.@paulmillersays that we are building the digital workplace for non-employees too. I wonder if this is truer outside of the US than within since US employers have to deal with co-employment laws. I hear the EU has a few laws too. 😄 #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
.@dhinchcliffe stated in his opening keynote that the #1 reason companies fail is the inability to adapt to digital change. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
.@LiveTilesUI now has a #chatbot / #AI platform. They also recently purchased Hyperfish. George Muir says you can’t build an uber-bot that does everything. He believes we are 3-5 years away from everyone in the enterprise having personal assistant bots. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
Andrew Wright who runs the Worldwide Intranet Challenge cited the top 3 qualities of the best #intranets as:
1. Interactive
2. Task-based
3. Personalized
#DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
I met some folks that are using @Microsoft’s QnA Maker for #bots. Going to have to try this out! #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
.@candace_cui shared highlights from the State of the #DigitalWorkplace Report: programs w/ established Officer doing better than those w/out & while budgets are always 1st competing priorities were 2nd biggest challenge. Full report: bit.ly/2luatoB. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
In a @DWG members-only session, Ed Taylor gave an overview of benchmarking process & results from a member org. Highest scores in Collaboration & Community and Organizational Readiness. Yep, direct correlation b/w those two. Build communities & drive change. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
Liberty Mutual’s @troycampano graciously shared what they have been up to in building a digital assistant for the enterprise. They had so much success, that LM spun off a new company, @WorkgridSoft. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
The sessions ended with Walmart’s Sara Pollard sharing how they connect with their store employees that have very limited time to take in the news and announcements found on their #intranet. Gave me some great ideas on new things to measure! #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
DWX18 was a great conference with many, many more learnings than those that I captured here. Thank you all who shared, taught, and came to learn at this year’s event! Also check out my thoughts (and questions) blog post on DWX18 here: bit.ly/2Ig6Prl. #DWX18 #KeyTakeaways
