Marco Rubio spent yesterday defending Trump, who calls the free press “the enemy of the people,” against the media. Today, Rubio is more concerned with a journalist saying fuck than journalists dying.
Marco Rubio felt it was more important to use this tragedy to pander to the evangelical base than to tweet support for the victims of a newspaper mass shooting. Can’t he drop the family values act long enough to show some humanity, especially after Parkland happened in his state?
This is also a good time to point out that Marco Rubio has received millions from the NRA during his career.

So when we liberals scoff at the term “liberal media,” stuff like this tweet by CBS News is why. The mainstream media often adopts the framing used by Republicans and right-wing media instead of phrasing things in a more factual, objective way.

Barack Obama supporters picked him because he wanted to help people regardless of who they were.

Donald Trump supporters picked him because he wanted to hurt people who weren’t like them.

Why we pick our leaders says a lot about our ideology.
Obama: People with pre-existing conditions got health care. Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Gay marriage became legal. Affirmative action school policies.

Trump: Muslim ban. Family separation policy. LGBT discrimination. Sabotaging health care of poor/sick. Uptick in hate crimes.
The inclusive aim of Barack Obama and the discriminatory intent of Donald Trump became more than just campaign rhetoric. Have heard many conservatives say that Obama made race relations worse while claiming that Trump isn’t a bigot, but the facts say otherwise.

The Toronto Star counted 67 lies Trump told this past week—his most dishonest week ever:

1. Trump continues to call the press "the enemy of the people," which is both disgusting and dangerous. To understand why, let's look at the history of that sinister phrase, who has used it in the past, why, and how it fosters a higher likelihood of violence against journalists.
2. The modern origins of the phrase are from the French Revolution's "reign of terror," when people were beheaded en masse. But it resurged during the Nazi era, when Hitler referred to the "lying press" and called Jews "the enemy of the people." But, it keeps getting worse...
3. It's a Soviet phrase too, something Lenin started and Stalin continued. For Stalin, labeling someone an "enemy of the people," meant internment at a forced labor camp and sometimes death. The term was *too extreme* for Nikita Khrushchev, who denounced it *in the 1950s.*
