A Twitter account theoretically belonging to Rod Rosenstein has been getting a decent amount of attention lately. There are, however, some reasons to question the legitimacy of this account. First up: "Rosenstein" is spelled incorrectly in the account name (@RodRosenstien). 
Can we find evidence that the @RodRosenstien account is not actually being operated by Rod Rosenstein? One thing the Deputy Attorney General is unlikely to do is retweet flattering tweets directed at himself while at a hearing in the House of Representatives. Let's take a look.
I wasn't able to find anything documenting the precise ending time of the hearing, but it's possible to deduce by looking at a couple of videos. This CNN clip establishes that the "there's no way to subpoena phone calls" comment occurred at 11:28 AM EDT.
Video of the full hearing. "There's no way to subpoena phone calls" happens at 4:16:51 into the video; Rosenstein departs at 7:52:20, placing him on the House floor until sometime between 2:03 and 2:04 PM EDT. Did @RodRosenstien tweet during this time?
There are no original tweets from @RodRosenstien during the hearing (first is 4 minutes after), but the first (and possibly second) retweet shown here take place during the final minutes. There is no indication that Rosenstein even had his phone with him during the proceedings.
As a footnote, there are already two theoretical Rosenstein accounts (@RodRosenstein and @DAGRosenstein) that have been banned by Twitter. It's not unlikely that @RodRosenstien is the latest incarnation of a persistent campaign to impersonate the real Rosenstein on Twitter.
Foot-footnote: both @ZellaQuixote and myself were briefly inclined to trust the @RodRosenstien account and RT'd a couple of its tweets. Nobody is immune to deception, include those of us who make it a goal to uncover it.
Apparently blocking me was a more appealing choice than answering my question.
