I, for one, cannot wait for the Hamas-led government of a free, independent Palestine, where democratic values reign and the rights of women respected.
The history of the 20th century is filled with Jews filling the ranks of social justice warrior, and then first up against the wall after the revolution.
I've been accused of being too "centrist," whatever that means, but history teaches us not only to be wary of right-wing "heils and hoods," but a left wing that picks out a few "good Jews" until they're no longer useful. I'm not making this up. We've seen it before. Many times.
Since the inappropriate apartheid comparison is always used against Israel, here's one example. Jews were at the forefront of the anti-apartheid movement inside South Africa and abroad. I marched against it in college. Today, the ANC is encouraging anti-Semitism.
I sympathize with the Jews who believe they're upholding Jewish values by identifying with Palestinians. But in order to do that, they either have to be ignorant of, or willfully ignore, the anti-Semitic mythology and false history that's woven into the "anti-Zionist" narrative.
I want a 2-state solution. I want no more kids to be killed on either side. But the Jewish idealists who make common cause with Palestinians should not expect to be welcome in any Palestinian state they help create. Not paranoia. It's history, and I see no exception here. /THREAD
