The tremendous trial-&-error efforts that EZLN undertook to experiment with autonomous decision making has a lot to teach. This quote is notable: "Indigenous Mayans have been making decisions collectively for generations without needing instruction from leftist intellectuals."
The revolutionaries that first arrived in on Mayan lands in 1982, learned more from the Indigenous people than they did from the revolutionary writings of dead Russians. Leftists of course need to have a complete understanding of philosophy, but not at the expense of indigeneity.
