Trump now agrees with Putin so completely he might as well be a Russian asset. The whole basis of our national security is now in doubt. We should stop Brexit until we've worked out where we are are and where the world is going
It's becoming increasingly obvious that the world of 2016 is dead. I remember at the time of the referendum, a Conservative journalist saying there was no need to worry that Putin wanted Brexit to weaken Europe.
I didn't agree but could see why he felt that way. Since then we've had Trump, who is now blaming fellow Americans for Russia's crimes. As the Germans are saying we can no longer regard the US as a friendly foreign power.
And that's before you consider how much more assertive, China has become since 2016. (If you think the US will walk all over us in trade negotiations, imagine what the Chinese would do,)
Look at Trump's tweet from this morning and tell me it is prudent for Britain to pick this time, of all times, to tear up its European alliance
