In this thread, I shall talk about three fallacies of the US media's approach to NK issues.
1. "Maximum sanctions": The assumption that sanctions can somehow "force" NK to denuke is fundamentally wrong. It is a naive, wishful thinking, one-sided fantasy of a poor quality. 1/8

Trump and Kim already agreed in Singapore that NK's denuke can only happen "voluntarily" when mutual confidence is built and peace is in place. Sanctions can only hamper the mutual confidence building and prolong hostile US-NK relationship, thus postponing everything. 2/8
2. "CVID": It was a non-starter in the first place. The concept was coined by those who had no desire to resolve NK issues in the first place. Basically, in plain English, it means "Denuke first and trust US for the rest." If you're a N Korean, would you? Get a life. 3/8
If you really think demanding CVID will work, you have deluded yourself or unthinkingly parroting what the media have whispered in your ears repeatedly.
3. "Denial of reality": They hate Trump quite a bit so they tend to dismiss what Trump and Kim have actually agreed. 4/8

The US media largely ignore the actual text of Singapore Jnt Stmt (obviously because it does not mention "CVID" or "maximum sanctions" which the media always want to hear but also because it is Trump, who has to be dismissed). 5/8
Without realising what has actually been agreed and laid out in the text of the Jnt Stmnt, the US media keep repeating the old repertoire of "CVID", "maximum sanctions", "Trump being played by Kim", "the Whole World being played by Kim". All this is to undermine Trump, sure. 6/8
In fact, however, TrumpKim Jnt Stmnt affirms that US-NK mutual confidence building will lead to denuke; peace will lead to denuke. The agreed text clearly recognises that friendly gestures (rather than maximum sanctions or the absurd demand of CVID) will lead to denuke. 7/8
I hope the US media realise, and face the reality that their demands of maximum sanctions and CVID are actually incompatible with the agreed text of TrumpKim Summit. Instead of (conveniently) dismissing it as "nothingburger", it is time to read it and accept the reality. 8/8
