OK, a thread of weird graphics from historical reports that I like.
Not (Medicare) sure (could) what ("cover") the (us) subtext (all) here (you know) could (like) be (a blanket?!).
Here is a waterfall of faces in need and some plaintive Old Age Assistance recipients from 1960.
Here are some chapter illustrations from an old manual about how to handle public assistance caseload stats. Ch II appears to be about mansplaining. And honestly we've all felt like the last one before...
Here's a doctor from Suffolk Co., NY in 1966 who is so so MAD about how Medicaid is socialized medicine (but Medicare is fine).
Here some typefaces from the mid-century Florida State Welfare Board that I really like (except for the weird s's that someone obviously worked hard on).
Here are some great title pages from the National Pharmaceutical Council in the late 80s and early 90s. In 1988 pills were crushing us from space, but in 1990 they were breaking out of the matrix, and then in 1991 we get what feels like a Medicaid magic eye (cc: @emma_sandoe).
This is MONY!
Creative bar chart choices from 1937.
Check the names of the diagnoses for these brain samples.
Why must the AFDC images be so creepy?!
Mississippi Welfare News with trenchant and super accurate forecasts about social problems in the 1960s:
No idea what's going on here but I like how all CA Vital Stats emanate from Sacramento.
