As I’ve said repeatedly for over 2 years, he will exploit a hostile threat or create one, to start a war to deflect from his wrongdoing. His response to narcissistic injury (exposure of wrongdoing or bounds put on his behavior) is to hurt back with sadistic acts.
While Trump may react to initial injury by nursing his wounds like anyone, his subdued reaction will only last so long. Narcissists will pretend they’re not injured by pretending the criticism or exposure washed over them but have no doubt, they injure.
But just like Charlottesville where he was forced to walk back inappropriate comments, he could only keep up the facade for so long, he raged about being forced to capitulate, and reverted back to his true racist position and let it show publicly.
We should listen to Melania who stated that when Trump is attacked, “he punches back ten times harder.” No doubt Melania has experienced this literally and figuratively, behind closed doors.
As @maggieNYT revealed yesterday, those closest to Trump know he is dangerous when he is cornered. It is a guarantee that in the subdued reaction of nursing his wounds to a large injury, a storm is brewing.
When narcissistic psychopaths can’t get positive supply like adulation, they feed just as well off the control of causing pain to others. They enjoy it. Thet are sadistic. They will actively seek the ways to cause the most hurt to their target.
If separating children from their parents and throwing them in cages doesn’t convey the level of sadism of which Trump is capable, I’m not sure anything will, until his new acts of sadism are revealed.
Of course normal people with a conscience have difficulty even conjuring up or predicting what a conscienceless psychopath may do. Look to history. Look to mass murderers and serial killers and cult leaders, and you get a glimpse of where Trump may take us.
