I’m reading the results of this new massive study which argues there’s no safe level of alcohol consumption. But set that aside. The article about the study contains lots of data about alcohol consumption in different countries. Highest consumption in the world?
2/ For men it’s Romania and for women it’s Ukraine. How much? 8.2 drinks a day and 4.2, respectively. Now I’m a pretty moderate drinker. Enjoy drinking in social settings, have my own favorite drink, etc. But seldom drink outside of social settings. No prohibition.
3/ Just it makes me tired and fuzzy. Just not my thing. But holy crap, an average of 8.2 drinks a day? Obviously that’s not someone drinks that much. That’s average across the whole society. Honestly, it’s a little hard for me to imagine a society even functioning on that basis.
For comparison, median consumption in the US among those who drink is about three drinks a week. About 10% of Americans drink 9 or 10 drinks a day. Hers the article. theguardian.com/society/2018/a…
