This is the stuff that infuriates me about Twitter. Anonymous trolls can just say “this is fabricated” and it just goes.
This is four similar words in a sentence randomly highlighted. What does this prove? But yes let’s just add it to this ridiculous list.
I’m really tired of this coordinated campaign run by the these accounts. It’s transparent and vicious.
So many of the accusations against Zito are basically “I can’t believe someone said this.” They also can’t believe trump won. But he did.
She addresses the meat of the accusations here: 
Zito was one of the only people who predicted a Trump win. She did it by talking to A LOT of people.
Did she know one of the thousand people she interviewed ran for a local office ten years prior? I don’t think that’s a fair expectation.
But there’s nothing about this that’s fair. Zito gives voice to people a lot of folks would rather pretend don’t exist.
More of the meat of the accusations:
A woman drives a lot. She stops for gas. She talks to people. That’s her job. She describes the interactions.
A lot of the folks have similar complaints. It’s why a lot voted differently. So one writer describes the individual complaints.
They are bound to sound similar to each other when they are similar and written by the same writer.
In other news and with apologies to @SalenaZito these assholes have been targeting me for a long time. She’s very nice and diligent.

@SalenaZito This is an example of an unfair expectation. Was SZ supposed to know if one interview had held an office in 1994? Her husband is irrelevant.
@SalenaZito A screen shot of book. Mostly Democratic but flipped back and forth. You mean in 94 she associated with GOP and then stopped for a while?
@SalenaZito This is also not a gotcha. She plainly states Sacco flipped back and forth sometimes. So finding a GOP record isn’t surprising.
@SalenaZito Another example where the proof provided is from the recent history. Part of the thesis of the book is people switched party affiliations.
@SalenaZito This states (p 221) she became involved in GOP politics in 2010. Thus finding a record from this year does not catch her in a gotcha.
@SalenaZito His longtime family ties with the Dem party are pertinent information. The rest of the issues here are answered plainly on page 158.
@SalenaZito Zito clearly states: he hasn’t voted Dem since Clinton and voted for Romney but didn’t like him.
@SalenaZito I’ve taken on the meat of the accusations in this thread, that Zito misrepresented people who were in reality GOP officials.
@SalenaZito Most of the other stuff is folks don’t believe her interviews. For folks who rant about the dangers of fake news, this is rich.
@SalenaZito If journalists are now expected to provide transcripts and audio recordings because people don’t think the quotes are accurate fine.
@SalenaZito There are plenty of journalists caught making up shit (unlike Zito) are not held to this standard.
@SalenaZito A bunch of mostly anon accounts cannot demand this. Her editors can. And a note every single of her employers stands by her.
@SalenaZito In this age where people are thrown under the bus for far less, she has not been. That tells you something. Or should at least.
Wanted to clarify this: Yes, they are quotes and that is a legitimate criticism. However, the same person is asking questions and people are likely to frame their responses using the language of her questions.
