There are few more wildly misinterpreted, gratuitously used & irresponsibly manipulated text than the creation poems.

Its from our syncretism of our oppressive culture with the text that we justify all sorts of identity based oppression and neglect the creation itself.
This provides the context for homophobic “jokes” that use a static interpretation of an ever changing and progressing creation to say “it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.”
It uses details about ribs and helpers to subjugate women to the will of men in the name of “original intent,” all while ignoring that the people were both made in God’s imagine and frankly I’d rather be made from a rib than a pile of breathed on dirt...
Misinterpretation claims that some things were created statically and some were created to progress. We love the notion that we move in the from a garden to a city but reject the notion that humans progress and change alongside the creation itself
People use what is clearly poetry and interpret it as history to ignore science. They then do textual gymnastics to explain the the literal garden was OBVIOUSLY destroyed by a literal flood that wiped out all evidence of its existence 🤦🏾‍♀️.
Can we not just read the story and see a picture of God that creates creators to create along side God, a God that uses words (not violence) to establish dominion and make a beautiful world where people partner with God?
