NK's KCTV airs 15-minute footage of Moon and KJU on top of Mt. Baekdu, holding and raising hands to show unity: "This astonishing moment will forever be etched in Korean history." KCTV also shows Ri Sol-ju and Mrs. Moon walking arm in arm
This wasn't part of what was shown in SK but it's on KCTV broadcast. What is it? What's engraved on one side of Mt. Baekdu. Call it sacred graffiti. It replicates KJI's handwriting: "Mt. Paektu=sacred mountain of revolution. KJI, engraved 2.16.1992"
By "astonishing moment," KCTV was referring to this joint hand-raising moment on top of Mt. Baekdu, the same picture that decorated the front page of Rodong Sinmun on September 21st.
But there were 2 "astonishing moments." They raised hands on top and then walked down to the lake shore and did it again surrounded by their entourage and photographers. Understandably these were arranged photo ops
Moon's office denied they had pre-knowledge of visiting Mt. Baekdu and claimed some guests had to have their clothes delivered for the trip. But the smallest details of how they would appear are negotiated by teams in charge of protocols. It's doubtful they really didn't know
For example all SK guests wore 2 lapel pins except the Moons. This is to counterbalance NK officials who wear KIS-KJI loyalty badges save KJU and his missus. But it's hard to coordinate unless you know what your counterpart is wearing. That's why they're negotiated beforehand
The whole point is to project an image of parity, especially when there are too many glaring differences that stand out: age, appearance, weight, etc. It's no accident the two first ladies are each wearing brooches on the left side at the reception
Another spontaneous moment. KJU turns around and asks, "What's the maximum depth of this volcanic crater lake (Cheonji)?" Answer: "325 meters, sir!"

He may not have lived another day if he didn't know.
