And she's a he! We've been exchanging tweets for years and for that whole time--I have no idea why--I assumed the @businessturkey Twitter account was run by Mustafa's assistant. And I assumed she was a woman. I wonder why?
A hypothesis: Turkish doesn't have gendered pronouns. It uses the same word for "he" and "she." Perhaps at some point, long ago, a gender mistake (one of us, in either language) sent my brain down the wrong path?
Anyway, I'm sorry for the mistake, but it's such an interesting one, isn't it? I had a whole imaginary picture of a "her" who doesn't exist. It's a classic case of the way the Internet causes us to think we know so much more about our interlocutors than we really do.
