Since that thread, things have gone really well. My communication difficulties with my eldest are now very different.

The look of gentle exasperation on his face when he tries to explain simple harmonic particle motion to me for the third time running makes me well up, for all the right reasons 😀
My youngest is a teen, he also has an associated language disorder. His biggest language anxiety right now is getting the comic timing right for the Shakespeare play he’s doing.

The specialist support for #DevLangDis they’ve had has been so crucial. It fills me with a cold fury how hard it is for families to get this support...
...& how some still dismiss its importance.
My eldest spent too long at a school whose staff denied that #DevLangDis exists. We are still repairing the damage done.
That school was rated Outstanding by Ofsted then. It’s still rated Outstanding now.

The language disorder isn’t going away. It’s still more disabling than their deafness. But we’ve got hope, skills & confidence now. Everything’s possible 👍👊👊 #flipthenarrative
