... you could simply do a Nick Clegg. Tell the electorate that you said "this" but now you're going to do "that". You might not have much of a party afterwards (see the LibDems) but there are always paths.

Me : Gosh. Many people, like myself, that voted for LibDem in 2010 won't vote for them again until they have totally reformed - all the old guard gone, all new candidates plus add about 20 years to trust them again.
