I’m gonna demystify some terms: Get Out the Vote means volunteers (like us) go and remind people who support our candidate to vote. It’s not debating with GOP voters who hate us, it’s reminding supporters & those likely to support. It’s the only way we win. Knock doors. (1)

Folks psych themselves out of volunteering imagining it’s some big scary thing. It’s actually friendly. If you have social anxiety to the point where it’s triggering to talk to strangers, or you have limited mobility, there are other great ways to help like texting voters (2)

You can volunteer to phone bank from home and text from home via @WorkingFamilies wfp4themany.org or @NewFLMajority newfloridavision.org/out-of-state/. Really friendly and fun. You can even text while you do work if you work from home. It reaches a ton of voters & helps them plan(3)

You also need to talk to your friends. All of them who aren’t GOP, and remind them to vote. Don’t take for granted that just because they are smart like you they have a plan to vote. Tell them about local races too. I bet they don’t know who’s running for state legislator. (4)

When you ask people to vote ask them when they plan to vote.
People who make a plan to vote are more likely to vote. There are studies! Make sure you know what documentation is necessary & encourage folks to vote early if their state has it. rockthevote.org/understanding-… (5)

So remember #GOTV means Get Out the Vote: it means talking to our supporters, not debate team or bullies. Around the country voters are already voting. Get started now! You’ll feel so much better November 6 if you do all you can.
