Some (near-sighted) people fantasise that I want everyone to join #Unity4J and get upset if they don't. This is the opposite of reality.

I would LOVE IT if people would set up competing organisations to try to free Julian. Love it, love it, love it.

Below are the reasons why:

1. Those persecuting Julian have decades of (or hundreds of years) experience at subverting human progress. Particularly, by infiltrating, destabilising, smearing and attacking activism groups.

The more groups working to free Julian, the harder it is for them to do that!!

2. The more different locations that actions are taking place the better. The more different types of actions taking place the better. The better for Julian, and the harder for the bad guys to keep a handle on. We need to stretch their spying & destroying resources to the maximum

3. The more different TYPES of action, the better. We need a global onslaught of diverse types of actions. Short lightning actions, sustained long actions, in big groups, in small groups, at every conceivable place and in every conceivable way. The actions don't have to conform

4. Nor do actions have to be under the same banner. In our mass movements in NZ, many different banners were visibile & many different organisations. #Unity4J is a movement that is open for people to join, but it was never intended to be ubiquitous. Diversity of interests is key!

5. People should do whatever they are best at. They don't have to bend to our mould. If what we do doesn't work for you because we organise on an online platform - band together within your own social spheres, find an organising method that does work for you and go for it.

6. We amplify the heck out of others good work anyway, so they get the added benefit of our platform without even having to be a part of it. So go for it if #Unity4J doesn't work for you for whatever reason. Organise independently, work hard & Free Julian!
