There are various working groups dedicated to Brexit in the French Senate (equivalent of our HOL). Their reports make for fascinating reading. I'll paste each one below with a brief summary. They're all in French, but Google Translate seems to make a pretty decent fist of it.
Report on a fact-finding delegation to Dublin, Belfast and London, covering the Irish border, immigration, the danger of failing to find a solution for N.I., and related topics.

Extended discussion with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, covering topics such as shared defense strategies, EU citizens' rights, continuing participation in EU programmes, Galileo etc.

Two nuggets:
- Ambassador: "Finally, though we are willing to pay to participate in the specific programs of the European Union, we are not prepared to pay very large sums."
- French side: "French exporting companies have already lost 4 billion euros in exports due to Brexit."
Summary of discussions with the "3 million" group, representing the rights of EU citizens in the UK. Some truly heart-rending stories of xenophobia and violent racist attacks. Some delegates were EU citizens formely in the UK, who moved home out of fear.

Nugget:
French: "This is the first time that we comprehend the human drama of Brexit. We will receive Michel Barnier on July 5th and will inform him. We were relying on the old England* sense of 'fair play'. This has been a revelation."

(*Angleterre = England, but also the UK)
Meeting with French representatives from industry, the pharmaceutical sector, the auto sector and the financial sector to discuss the effects of Brexit they're experiencing and anticipating.

Joint agriculural and fisheries session. Full of fairly eye-watering statistics about likely Brexit impacts...

Summary of two separate fact-finding sessions, one with the General Secretary of European Affairs, the other with the Irish Ambassador to France.

Nugget: 'Theresa May, when she was Home Secretary, ensured that people outside the European Union left the UK. There are now 15,000 "Skype" families who only have contact with their children via the Internet. You can imagine the anxiety and anguish that this can cause Europeans'
Summary of meeting with representatives of the Foreign Affairs committee of the House of Commons...

Nugget [French side]: 'You have chosen to leave and you are great democrats. So you are forced to legislate on a "populist" decision, because a number of leading English politicians have resorted to misinformation - I will not name names...'

And that's the lot. Hope you find some gems amongst the discussions. As I said at the beginning of the thread, the French seem to elicit much more serious, in-depth, frank discussions than our own politicians manage, so the transcripts are that much more informative for it. END.
