I mentioned this during the election season but since the election results are in I'll mention it again. A message of fear does not get people to the polls. Trump's rallies were a good mixture of hope for a better future with some warnings of what could happen like the caravan.
However, people like Hannity used fear and fear and more fear. A human reacts to fear in two ways. Fight and flight. The way people fight in politics here is they go vote. The way they practice flight is they stay home.
It's always better to give people hope than fear as a reason to vote for you. People laugh at Obama's hope and change because he didn't deliver on it but it still got him elected.
Trump's MAGA is the the same. It has given people hope for a better future by returning to what worked in the past.

The "muh we are all doomed" crowd plus the media are once again pushing fear. I don't know yet why they are doing it. I mostly think that because of the type of hopeless fear they are pushing, it's another effort to erode Trump's base and get them to give up.
Either way. FDRs quote is still golden here "the only thing you have to fear, is fear itself". Most the problems/issues can be reduced. Most due to human nation will never be totally solved but they can be managed.
There is so much good going on, so much progress, so much hope out there, that to me at least, wasting your time being afraid is counter productive. Listen to the fearmongers if you wish (They dont have your best interests in mind) I choose not too do so.
Many of those who lost last week, from what I saw, Tried to motive their side with fear while reaching out to the other side instead of embracing their base. In many cases it just wasn't enough.
Hope trumps fear. Inspirational trumps loathing. Just a thought as we move beyond 2018 and gear upnfor 2020.
