"Predicted impacts are now manifest."

All the "climate change is a hoax" people are going to switch to "the threat of climate change means we have to [atrocity that protects oil/gas use]."

This isn't a shift in strategy. It's part of a single strategy. nytimes.com/2018/11/23/cli…
The evidence for climate change has been manifest for decades. Those claiming it was a hoax knew it was real. They sowed uncertainty and confusion to enrich themselves. They knew billions of people would suffer as a result.

They should be treated accordingly.
People in positions of power, who had access to all the same information as everyone else, repeatedly claimed that climate change was a hoax.

That act should be made to define them.

There should be consequences.

At the very least we should never listen to them again.
Mark well anyone who claimed, from a position of influence, that climate change wasn't real, or the causes were uncertain.

Their solutions to the calamity they devised should be rejected. They represent part of a strategy that involved creating the calamity in the first place.
At the very least, the oil industry's assets should be immediately seized and managed to move quickly away from petroleum use and onto alternative fuel sources, and any profits from those should be used to pay for global climate change combat, amelioration and infrastructure.
If we saw clearly what they have done to us, those in leadership who guided the petroleum industry and extravagantly profited from it would count themselves VERY lucky to merely have all their personal assets seized.

But at the very least, never ever listen to them again.
A politician found to have ties to the oil/gas industry should be a career-ending scandal.

A politician with a personal past in the oil/gas industry should be impossible, utterly impossible.

No hands on the steering wheel for those who deliberately pointed us at this cliff.
I'm not a nihilist, so I don't find a comment like this useful in the least.

Nothing is written.

You can insist on truth and solutions. Their money mustn't buy them. It's up to us to demand it doesn't.

Engage. Plug in. That scares politicians.

We want politicians scared.
If politicians lose their jobs because they have ties to oil and gas, that will change things. And they should. It should be utterly unacceptable. We have the evidence why.

Make it happen.
I think this is appropriate. Make politicians understand that they endanger their own careers if they work for corporations instead of us.

We'll need to scare our politicians into doing what's right.

So engage. Scare your politician.
