Reality: Asylum can only be sought at the border or inside the US. US consulates do not accept asylum applications.
Myth: Asylum seekers must present themselves at a port of entry.

Reality: The law (8 USC 1158) specifically says a person may apply for asylum whether they enter legally or not.

They can be technically prosecuted for unlawful entry, but that doesn't prevent asylum.
Myth: Asylum is only for political persecution, not for fear of gangs and terrorists.

Reality: There is NO requirement in the law that an asylum seeker's fear be politically based.

Picture it...a small, West Texas town, May, 2007. 5 women are sitting in the training room of the local cable company as new hires. 4 are Hispanic, 2 are white. Enter a 19 year old pregnant Hispanic girl, who is to train us.
2). After a couple of hours of basic company policy, we switch to customer service policies...particularly the sign-up process for new customers. We cover the information we must have to put in the computer.
3) At the point where we find that both a gov't issued photo ID, AND a Social Security number is REQUIRED to open a new account, one of the Hispanic new hires inserts a question into the session that almost turned into brawl.

As a fmr immigration attorney let me be unambiguously clear. Crossing a boarder to claim asylum is *not* a crime; no under US or international law. Any child separated from a parent under that pretext is done so in direct contravention to the laws of the USA. ⚖ THREAD Pls RT.
If you came to the US without permission to apply for asylum, youmetjod of entry, whether legal or illegal *should* in no way effect your application process. Illegal entry is not a ground of inadmissibility for asylum applicants.
Unlike many other categories of applicants for immigration benefits, ppl seeking asylum in the US are not barred by having made an illegal entry; for example, sneaked across the U.S. border or overstaying a valid visa (one of the top ways people are in the country illegall).

Before Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson was unquestionably the most pro-labor president in American history. In fact, even when the Espionage Act is taken into consideration, this is probably true.
Wilson had signed groundbreaking laws such as the LaFollette Seamen’s Act that attempted to improve labor conditions on ships around the globe. When World War I began, he brought American Federation of Labor head Samuel Gompers into the government, a new day for labor.

My point is -- we need to find a solution for the war going on in our inner-cities where 9.000 murders happen every year (more than the Viet Nam War). Stopping that violence will be reflected in popular culture - Rap/Hip Hop, etc. & that may be why these young kids want to kill.
Regardless, it's immoral to allow it to go on. It seems like the Left doesn't want to address it as they don't want the publicity because it's such glaring example of a Progressive Failure. The inner-cities are the epicenter of the Violence Culture in this country.
