Shortly after the 157 Task Force battalion came under intense enemy attack, the President activated multiple strategies in restoring the morales of the troops & assuring the citizenry of govt resolve in dealing effectively with the crisis.
The Pres, was able to calm the citizenry & acted in the nation’s defence. In a statement by @GarShehu on Nov 24, he assured Nigerians that “ In the coming days, I am engaging the Military & Intelligence Chiefs in extensive discussions on the next steps we shall be taking”
After receiving situation briefing from the Min of Defence, the (CnC) on Nov 25, deployed the Min of Defence in continuation on consultations with Ministers of Defence of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJF) Troops Contributing Countries (TCC) which includes Cameroon.....
...Chad, Niger, 🇳🇬 & Benin Republic, to Chad for an urgent meeting with the Chadian Pres & his Min of Defence, to find a way of positioning members of the (MNJF) in routes used by BHT to attack 🇳🇬 which borders Chad, as the recent attackers spoke French and Arabic languages.
It should be recalled that on September 2018 the Minister paid a similar meeting to Niger Republic and the outcome was a powerful cross-border strike that neutralised BHT members and their camps destroyed.
With preliminary intelligence from the Minister of Defence, Mr President summoned a meeting with all Service Chiefs for a review session on the Operation in the North-East.
On November 26, Mr President received another situational briefing from the Service and Intelligence Chiefs on the situations in the North East.
On November 23, the Nigerian Army responded to calm the nerves of the populace on the attack and reaffirmed the laid down procedures of contacting families of troops killed in action (KIA) before releasing their names or numbers of personnel KIA to the public.
The @HQNigerianArmy also denounced the false causality figure bandied and propagandistic videos shared in the media as fake new which is to be avoided.
In a show of resilience and strength, on November 25, the Chief Of Army Staff’s (COAS) annual conference to be declared open by the CnC, scheduled for Benin from 26-30 has been moved to Maiduguri - to hold on 28-30 of November 2018.
On November 25, the @NigAirForce deployed war helicopters & Special Forced to strike BHT members, locations, and vehicles linked to BHT attackers in last week raid on the military base at Metele in Borno State.
The Nigerian Airforce followed the trail of the terrorists and destroyed seven (7) vehicles including gun trucks and eliminated all BHT members in the convoy.
.@NigAirForce deployed the Mi-35M, multi-role combat helicopters which is known to deliver high-precision weaponry in destroying ground targets. NAF also embarked on a cross border airstrike in pursuit of where the terrorists hid stolen armoured tanks and destroyed them.
