1/ Here are four highlighted (by me) paragraphs of the Attorney General's legal advice which I think sum up the very significant concerns he had over the uncertainty generated by the withdrawal agreement. Full advice here: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/upl…
2/ Para 16: the protocol (and therefore the customs arrangement) will endure indefinitely if no future trade arrangement is reached. Nothing in the agreement could compel the EU to conclude an agreement
3/ Para 23: the UK would be left having to "trust" that a conclusion to negotiations can be reached.
4/ Article 19 of the agreement, which allows for arbitration by 5 lawyers of disputes relating to the agreement, would't enable the UK to be released from the customs arrangement without a future trade agreement
5/ There is a "legal risk" that the UK would be subject to 'protracted and repeating' negotiations with the EU. This may also have said "permanent" as that is clearly the risk.

What a shame. I was heartened to see the Golders Green mosque, which got a lot of nasty criticism from within the Jewish community when it took over the building, was organising an outreach event commemorating Muslims who helped Jews during the Holocaust. Now cancelled.

#FDR promoted the idea that the people of the world, in all nations, shared entitlement to four freedoms: that of the freedom of speech and expression, the freedom of worship, the freedom from want and the freedom from fear.
#FDR is arguably one of the most 'successful' #US Presidents. Some would argue that on the basis of his numerous social policies such as 'the New Deal'. Others, however, would argue that his role during the second world war was more prevalent to his success & everlasting legacy.

What you need to know about the backstop: We can't leave it unless the EU agree we can. And that's a *good* thing.

You see, the backstop is a safety net, a guarantee that - no matter what the Government of the day wants - the Good Friday Agreement will always be safe.

Another way of putting it: "Do you trust that every single UK Government, now and forever, will have our collective best interests at heart in its future dealings with the EU?"

If not, don't you think a backstop they can't tear up in a fit of pique sounds like a darn good idea?
Built-in protections prevent the situation from going out of control when stuff goes wrong. That's why plugs have fuses, train tracks have buffer stops, engines have limiters, baths have overflow pipes, skyjumpers have backup parachutes... and Brexit comes with a backstop.

Having reviewed the Attorney General’s legal advice, it’s obvious why this needed to be placed in the public domain. 1/3
All week we have heard from Government ministers that releasing this information. could harm the national interest. Nothing of the sort. All this advice reveals is the central weaknesses in the Government’s deal. 2/3
It is unthinkable that the Government tried to keep this information from Parliament - and indeed the public - before next week’s vote. 3/3

There seem to me to be three key paragraphs in the Attorney General's legal advice to the Prime Minister on the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland - the 'backstop - in the Withdrawal Agreement.

Here they are. 1/4

Para 16: The Protocol will "endure indefinitely".
Para 30: The review mechanism does not provide a unilateral route out of the backstop. 2/4

So, the 'deal' is exactly what we expected: remain by 'stealth'. Britain will remain subject to EU austerity, ECJ, privitisation of public assets via 'competitive' regulations, the NHS, mass unemployment, etc. Which is precisely what May & Co voted for.
Its exactly what Corbyn himself voted for, remain. And the "whole country" doesn't have the same interests, the workers interests are diametrically opposed to the exploiters, both EU & the British variety. But Corbyn will never admit that.

All going as expected, May's Govt on its last legs, press in fits of 'chaotic' fury, cue the arrival of Corbyn the Messiah to save the day, ie: the status quo, 2nd ref, full remain.
