Just catching up with Rebecca Long-Bailey on Today. Dreadful interview. Labour's position actually manages to be more insane than that of Iain Duncan Smith etc, because it envisages a general election *and then* full withdrawal and future trade deal negotiations. Before March.
I understand why that position still holds this morning. It was intended to last until May's deal was voted down. But Labour must now accept that that may never happen, or not until January, which is too late.
They cannot essentially conspire with the government in running down the clock. Meaningful renegotiation is no longer possible and they should admit it.
The next stage in their three-stage policy is a general election, so they should try to trigger a no-confidence vote in the prime minister.
And if that fails, they should support a second referendum which could probably pass with their support. It's time to put their money where their mouth is.
And actually I'd go further than that. There is a national responsibility to stop this shambles from continuing. What we are seeing is not acceptable.
There is no government plan which is being acted on. And they have proposed no plan b. They don't know what they're doing and the cliff edge fast approaches. The opposition must step in.
