Fun times continue guys, the prime minister is in front of the Commons again.
She's going to tell everyone how well everything went with the European Council last week.
She apparently explained the assurances on the backstop were insufficient. "Some of the resulting exchanges were robust, but I make no apology for standing up for the interests of this House."
Amazing way to describe her total lack of effectiveness and the fact her negotiating partner hardened its position as a result of her argument.
Stream of nonsense from May which in no way reflects the reality of what happened.
Genuinely: The lies are so relentless my ears now prick up whenever she says something accurate.
"Discussion with my EU partners show that further clarification is now possible." Amazing. Just working down the clock. Driving that fucker down.
Blurted nonsense on the Commons getting a veto on the backstop coming into force.
May intends to hold vote on her deal the week starting January 14th.
On MPs: "Expressing our personal views is not what we are here to do. We asked the British people to take this decision." Extraordinary thing to say.
Really explicit attempt to bludgeon MPs into having no independence of thought at all. May tries to tell MPs that by voting to trigger Article 50 they've lost the right to disagree with the deal she comes back with.
Typical of the bullying, mendacious way she has treated parliament throughout. Trying, like any bog-standard autocrat, to pretend her view is the will of the people. And any other view is not, because it is not her view.
Now a laughable attempt to say a second referendum would damage the "integrity of our politics". This from a government which was a few days ago found in contempt of parliament.
Border laws and money guys. We'e back to playing the hits.
Fuck it Theresa, play em strong and stable. They love that one.
That was a terrible statement. She outdoes herself daily, but it really showed no respect at all for the basic attributes and advantages of the parliamentary system. It was more suited to Putin or Napoleon than a British prime minister.
Even saying that gives her too much credit. At least those two were good at it.
Useless from Corbyn. Just blather. No interrogation. No action. He is an absence.
Andrew Mitchell barely stands up to the boos and hisses of his own colleague and urges the prime minister to seek an extension of Article 50.
The anyway useless censure motion Labour intended to use has already been packed away. A one hour turnaround now, between the birth of a crap Labour idea and its death.
What a godawful bloody shitshow. The government frontbench is an abomination. The opposition frontbench barely exists except to bite its own arse.
May becomes more and more disingenuous with each answer. Told to stop ruling things out, including Norway or extending A50, she claims the British people ruled that out in June 2016.
Liz Kendall: "She wants to run down the clock and try to intimidate MPs. This isn't acting in the national interest but her personal interest. And neither her party or the country will forgive her for it."
May replies by saying it would have been irresponsible of her not to listen to the views of the House. Quick reminder here that she cancelled - yes, that's right, cancelled - the vote.
Monstrously stupid question from Michael Fallon who has still somehow not understood that the financial payment is for pre-existing agreements, not in exchange for future ones.
To call her nebulous is to flatter her.
Patrick McLoughlin: "We're told the UK doesn't want the backstop, we're told the EU doesn't want to enter the backstop. What on earth is stopping the EU from giving a legal guarantee that such a backstop would only last for a v.short time?" Imagine being this stupid.
Imagine being unable to understand the difference between what you want and what you need to prepare for.
May's answer arguably just as inane. Says best way to avoid the backstop is to "have a firm date for introducing the future relationship". Doesn't understand the difference between putting in a diary date and actually attending the meeting.
You can set a date to complete the trade talks by the end of 2020, or for next Tuesday. Fuck, make it for 21 Brumaire, see if it makes any difference. It's nonsense. This deal will take ages and asserting an early date does not change that.
Yeah I've got proper work to do now, can't be bothered to listen to this anymore. Pointless.
Redundant and embarrassing. No-one involved in this government will be able to wipe the stain from their reputation.
