Pathetic virtue signalling from a woeful Government

Also, has Government considered that doing this a week before Christmas isn't exactly allowing everyone to start to wind down for a festive break (as MPs will be taking from tomorrow)?
And if the Government really think that some late no-deal preparations will put pressure on the EU to reopen the Irish backstop then they haven't been paying any attention. But no, we assume this is a message targeted domestically

The Government has it within their power (and the numbers in Parliament) to rule out no-deal Brexit. That would give everyone a more relaxed Christmas. But instead they feel the need to listen to the Brexiteer voices who insist we must have a no-deal backup
No-deal is not credible for the UK, it never has been, and this is why even the Brexiteer voices talk of 'managed no-deal' because they know we will need deals. They just think against all evidence we can call the shots on what the deals are.
Nearly 50% of UK trade is with the EU. Around 8% of EU trade is with the UK. Anyone who says they need us more than we need them is defying basic reality. What we need now is calm leadership not Government panic. /end
