Open Question:

I love backpacks, and spend a lot of money on them, because that's one of my *things*. But for most people who ask, I recommend they get a Jansport because it's the right value point of price and quality.

In *your* area of geekery, what's the Jansport?
For example, for Fountain Pens, my Jansport is the Pilot Metropolitan (and it used to be the Lamy Safari). It's inexpensive but stylish and works well, and you don't have to fiddle with bottled ink, but you can if you want to.

Tea: Adagio Assam Harmony.
Historical England: Allison Weir and Phillipa Gregory
Parenting: _Smart but Scattered_ and _How to Talk so Kids Will Listen_
Because coffee is bringing me life: My Jansport for coffee is a Melita red plastic cone. They cost a couple of bucks, work with common filters, and can let you make a better cup of coffee pourover style without going down the rabbit hole.
