I’m working on a book on #ableism, but the best way to know what it is and how it impacts people is to know disabled people.

Who are some of the disabled people you follow on Twitter?

(Please do not include parents of disabled people. They aren’t disabled.)
To clarify, I’m asking because I want all of us to follow more disabled people, myself included. Not all ableism is rooted in ignorance, but some is. Knowing disabled people helps abled people know better (in theory, at least, not always in practice).
I wasn’t really looking for volunteers to help with this project, but I will definitely be in touch with those of you who have offered! I am disabled but the disabled community is so diverse that I know my perspectives and experiences aren’t universal.

Things you should know about those living with chronic pain:

1. We minimize our reality because we don’t want to be seen as whiners & because we’ve noticed the “she had cancer & never complained once” stories that are usually bullshit but still consumed happily as inspirational.
2. We carefully curate our stories so we aren’t othered or pitied. I woke up in the middle of the night earlier this week, needing to pee. I had to take pain medicine and wait uncomfortably for it to kick in before I could manage to get out of bed. But that’s too sad to post.
3. We notice all the Christian testimonies about healing. We see celebrations over those. We wonder if you’d be willing to see God or even see us in our stories, the ones in which prayers for healing are answered with no or not yet or silence.

The truth is, the household fallacy has been weaponised for purely political ends: to prevent progressive spending policy from gaining legitimacy. Its apparently instinctive logic disguises the truth– what is true for an individual household is not true for the government.
By cutting its spending the government also ends up reducing its own income. So unlike a household, government spending and income are not independent of one another - reductions in government spending when economy is under performing leads to higher debt and lower growth.

We tell everyone, leave your own tweets at the top when you log off. Not just your pinned tweet, your current stuff. I usually hit the top two in my mentions. This is free advertising. In weird twitter it's currency

Buffer is a great tool for scheduling tweets. There are a ton of apps that let you post to multiple platforms but with Buffer the posts don't go out at the same time. You can also schedule tweets at optimum times based on your when your followers are online
