Lets look at the problem from the @PhRMA / business perspective. And lets suppose you are a wonderful company, started by wonderful people who just want to make the world a better place (I know, not real, but stay with me for a minute).
You start with a great idea / or pipeline platform and start selling this concept to #VC #VentureCapital, and lets assume that this is actually a really good idea. What is the needed return on investment to make this worth while. A: further R&D must exceed the cost of capital.

UCC had opportunity to comment on the #Data.Protection & Privacy Bill. The enactment of this law is long overdue. A comprehensive law on the collection & processing personal information gives effect to the right to Privacy envisaged under Article 27(2) of the Constitution
UCC welcome the protections offered by the Bill in terms of export of data, breach notification requirements, data subjects access rights, automated decision making, compensation and the right to be forgotten and provision for financial and penal sanctions for breach of the law.
Distinction between Data collectors & data controllers.
The Bill should however clarify & distinguish Data Collectors, from Data Processors & Data Controllers. Clause 2 is inconsistent with international good practice which provides for two broad categories of Data Controllers

1) There’s a lot of BS about @nntaleb’s Black Swan, antifragility & skin in da game. Let’s take the gloves off and get into trouble.
2) When the Swan flew out, it was immediately butchered by imbeciles not understanding that you can’t predict the unpredictable.

Big pharma is evil. It can also be true that my Zoloft has kept me offing myself months ago. Both can exist, simultaneously.
I was having a minimum of 3 panic attacks a day for a month and a half. It was because of Zoloft that I was able to get them under control.
There are ways to discuss the capitalistic nature of Big Pharma™ without being ableist & shaming folks for doing what they must to survive.
