A thread on Pres. Said Abdullahi Deni: his political journey & affiliations, the events surrounding his election, relation with FGS among other things.

Said Deni & his political alignment;

It's wonderful that before he even got sworn, many people started to talk about the political ideologies of Deni & where his loyalty lies.
Many are of the the idea that he is more or less inclined to Damujadid- an infamous name tag for Hassan Sheikh & Co where he served as a minister for a short stint.

But those speculations are easily washed away by the fact that he even contested with Hassan Sheikh in 2016.
Deni is also a prominent member of Ictisaam- a " religious-cum-political" group with deep networks in the business & education sector.

He has diligently worked in the education sector of Puntland region before joining the national politics.
Deni is also a former MP & served under PM Abdiweli Sh. Ahmed as the Minister of Planning.

He had previously worked at the port of Bosaso & delved into business & philanthropy.
He also contested in the 2016 Federal elections & performed quite well to the surprise of many.

He singlehandedly garnered around 18 votes (a daunting task for that matter).
Deni is also believed to have solicited the post of Prime Minister & almost got the offer but was blackmailed by a close family member who was a strong politician (read CCC- Cumar Cabdirashid).
Said Deni & His relations with the FGS;

So far we have no official info & pattern that can confirm the type of relations he have with Villa Somalia.
In a matter of few weeks, it will be clear:
1. Whether he is still a staunch member of the opposition groups i.e the defunct Damujadid;
2. Whether he is ready to do "business" with the FGS, or
3. Whether he had already stroke a deal with Villa Somalia as some perceive.
My take on the relations of Said Deni (in this case representing PL) & FGS & the modalities to nurture it;

I believe there is a golden opportunity out there to mend relations and start off a new era with a sense of optimism
FGS can make use of this enabling atmosphere & gain the confidence of not only Deni and his team but also the powerful traditional elders of PL who are literally the most important stakeholders as far as decision making & political directions are concerned.
It will be a political suicide, sheer arrogance & poor strategy if FGS tries to copy-paste the same strategies they have employed in South West, Galmudug, Hirshabele etc.
A free advice/ counsel to FGS:

Having said all that, ( and I know they hear a lot of this every day & they are not obviously short of ideas/advices) it will be up to them to decide on taking one of the 2 ways:
👇👇👇👇👇
1. To avoid unnecessary conflict & building a healthy relationship with PL based on mutual trust, shared responsibilities, equal distribution of resources & political consensus
OR

2. Thriving on poorly crafted, risky & irrational knee-jerk reactions/moves that's mainly designed to subdue perceived political enemies and/or any one who says no.

Let us see which way @TheVillaSomalia takes.
