Ahead of (potentially) the ONLY #PMQs remaining before the Meaningful Vote on Brexit, it's worth reminding ourselves of where things stand...

Brexit's already costing jobs and investments.
Trading on WTO terms does. Not. Work. Not the way Brexiters describe it, anyway... The key point missing is *alone*: trading on WTO terms alone is a disaster waiting to happen.
There's no transition period in a no deal situation. It's over the cliff, out of the EU, on 29 March 2019 at 11pm. Many MPs seem to find this confusing...
Geography makes it impossible to simply swap trade with the EU for trade with other countries.

Vital reminder: a "no deal" Brexit is a proactive outcome. We only fall out of the EU with no deal if Theresa May and the Government *actively* will it.

Yes, no deal is the default outcome come 29 March at 11pm.

But, as the ECJ court case proved, we could ALWAYS remain instead.
So if we end up with no deal, it is 100% down to the fact that the Government chose to leave the emergency parachute of rescinding Article 50 unused, and instead send our economy and our security crashing into the no deal ground with a huge strawberry splat.

Brexit is killing people. Right now.

Because instead of focusing on homelessness, knife crime, appalling food poverty, and many other issues that lead directly to tragic loss of life, both the Government and the Opposition have been mired in the Brexit mud for over two years.
That's not going to change after Brexit Day.

Ooh, no. Not for one minute.

Brexit Day is the starting pistol on the real negotiations, the proper grownup ones that will define the shape of our future relationship with the EU.

Those could easily go on for decades before every

Symptomatic of Tory arrogance: they know that any plan B won't stand up to even cursory scrutiny, but decide to wing it anyway.
Of course, two plans need zero scrutiny:
- let executioner's axe fall (no deal): scrutiny pointless because we're into Mad Max territory
- take our head off the block (remain): life continues as per normal, and we get back to focusing on stuff that matters (NHS, austerity etc.)

#Brexit *Thread*

To clarify, I am remain, but I feel a 2nd ref is monumentally risky & perhaps dangerous:-

1. Polls haven't changed much, result could easily be the same
2. Another campaign of hate will embolden the far right
3. If remain win. Leavers will demand another vote
4. Chaos & unrest are likely whatever the result, possibly violence too

What happens if it's still 'Leave'? Picture the chaos, square one. You're simply allowing the Tories more time to fail to come up with a solution. Every day that continues people in this country will suffer
What if it's 'Remain'? Leavers will, with some justification, query why this vote is more valid than the first. This has the potential to cause a constitutional crisis.

People can say 'we know the facts now' all they like, that will not placate millions of angry voters.

Here are some of the key findings from the report in slide form.
First an overview of the study itself:
Rich qualitative data (online survey & focus groups) gathered across the Central Border Region. Detailed examples & viewpoints heard from people on both sides of #border.

Respondents to the survey came from across the 8 local authority areas of the Central Border Region, moreorless equally from both sides of the border. 50/50 male/female. 80% 31-65 yrs.
There were far fewer Leave-voting respondents so they got extra attention in our analysis.

1) That #Brexit election conundrum

By all accounts Rees Mogg is making his bid for Tory Leadership, which in turn may lead to yet another GE.
But this next GE, as things stand, will likely lead to another hung parliament because of #Brexit
2) that's because each party is polling roughly 42% and remain/leave is still roughly split 50-50
But both parties have leavers & remainers as supporting voters.

Maintaining the current status quo ("our Brexit is better than their Brexit") will lead to a similar GE outcome
3) nothing will have changed particularly (other than perhaps it being clearer that Labour "accepts" Brexit) so there's no reason to assume 30 seats will shift either way.

Labour will be no more attractive to Tory voters than they were last year and the same goes for Tory party
