The announcement of Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, son of the much missed Étienne Tshisekedi as provisional winner of the recent elections and next President of the DRC shows that #DynasticPolitics in #Africa is alive not just in ruling parties but also in opposition movements
There's many other examples of #DynasticPolitics all over #Africa:

The Kabilas have ruled the DRC since 1997 - outgoing President @Plaid_Kabila, succeeded his Dad, Laurent-Désiré Kabila

Botswana's last President, Iain Khama is the son of the founding President, Seretse Khama
Gabon has endured nearly 52 yrs of rule by 1st Omar Bongo (for 42 yrs from 1967-2009) & since then by his son →Ali Bongo

Edward Akuffo-Addo, father of Ghana's current President, Nana Akuffo-Addo, was Ghana's Chief Justice (1966-70) & 2nd President (1970-72)
Kenya's current President, @UKenyatta is the son of the founding President, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta

Kenya's leading Opposition politician, @RailaOdinga is the son of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga who was 1st Vice_President to the Mzee b4 emerging to lead opposition to him
South Africa's former President, Thabo Mbeki, is the son of former liberation leader, Govan Mbeki

Like the Gabonese, Togo has endured over 50 yrs of rule by the Eyademas: Gnassingbé Eyadéma ruled from 1967 until death in 2005 whn he was replaced by his son → @FEGnassingbe
There have also been failed dynastic experiments in Africa. In Libya, Moamar Khaddafi failed to install his son, Saif Al-Islam. He is now the leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Libya.

In Egypt, Hosni Mubarak failed in his attempt to install his son Gamaal
The latest to watch is Uganda where Major-General Kainerugaba Muhoozi, the Sandhurst-trained son of @KagutaMuseveni & immediate past Commander of Uganda's elite Presidential Guards Brigade, is rumoured to be waiting in the wings to succeed his father, in power since 1986
So, as 1 son who inherited a country from his father at the age of 29 sets to leave the stage in DRC after being in power for 18 yrs, he'll be handing over to another another son who inherited the opposition movement from his father at the age of 54
