Hargreaves is crying now but he deserves to lose every penny he spent (£3.2m) sending this around the country - to say there's a couple of errors in it would be an understatement. Just more evidence that the 2016 Referendum was little more than a wild west free-for-all.....

Listen to the FT, Brexit won't mean tens of thousands of job losses, it means hundreds of thousands of job losses in the assembly plants AND the supply chains.....Brexit is making the difficult decisions, facing UK industry, easier.
And whilst Brexit's proponents shout 'Project Fear' their economist has said this is one of the consequences of Brexit - Listen to Patrick Minford dismiss livelihoods as simply something that happens - as he did under Thatcher when they ran down the coal & steel industries.

1. The Twitter remain movement really doesn't have any self awareness. Even filtering out the snobs, bigots and crazies, they still haven't grasped #Brexit at all. (thread)
2. For all that they have shown an impressive ability to build self-referential echo chambers, mobilising enormous Twitter followings, having spend millions in the process, if the polls are anything to go by they haven't actually achieved anything.
3. The reason for this being that they have made no attempt to understand Brexit voters. If they had they would understand why their activities have proven entirely futile. They are really barking up the wrong tree.

Clearly @ajcdeane has never read an EU FTA or the WTO TBT agreement. His deregulation fantasy is not going to happen and there will be no generic equivalence agreement.

More to the point, a generic equivalence agreement means the EU redefining single market system integrity. Not going to happen. If we diverge without consultation and coordination then there is no frictionless trade. It cannot and will not compromise the single market.
Deane is not alone in his delusions. We are seeing the Hannanisation of the Brexit trade agenda whereupon the UK goes into battle with a head full of misapprehensions and delusions only to be told unequivocally that it cannot happen. A brick wall awaits.

1) Thread - All Brexits are bad and what we voted for
It's often said by brexiters that "it's not all about economics"
However, the *actual* Leave campaign was almost wholly about economic arguments

With the leak of this 2-8% report those arguments are now trashed
2) We seem to have forgotten this however economics played a huge part in the Vote Leave campaign, making up over 2/3rds of the primary arguements. The clear message was we would at the least be no worse off and at best much better off. 4 of the 6 below state this clearly
3) & the fact is voters believed we would be no worse off. People prioritized immigration certainly, but against a backdrop of there being no consequences from Brexit - few are prepared to actually pay for ending FoM

#Brexit as a concept is increasingly drifting from having anything whatsoever to do with the mechanics of leaving the EU. It is now primarily a culture war and both sides will totally ignore the details except for when they are temporarily convenient.
The consequence of this is that our future relationship with the EU will be just as readily ignored as our activities as a member. They said Brexit would make us isolated, self absorbed and insular but it seems that was always the case and there are no signs of that changing.
As ever the details will be delegated to officials and civil servants while our establishment politics drifts further into its cycle of decline, unable to usefully influence external events making us entirely passive and reactive to events rather than self-interestedly engaged.
