BULLYING PEOPLE OUT OF A CHOICE: I am concerned at the level of bullying in Nigeria today. People are ridiculed and abused and some people even place curses on people that choose one political candidate over another, and people are castigated for choosing to be neutral. Thread...
Look, someone doesn’t have to choose the candidate that you support. If someone supports one candidate, it doesn’t make that person “clueless” or “lifeless”. If someone supports another candidate, it doesn’t make them a “thief” or someone that condones corruption.
If someone supports yet a different candidate other than the two main ones, it doesn’t mean that they are fools that simply want to throw away their vote. If someone doesn’t want to overtly support any candidate, it doesn’t mean that they are “covert” “snakes.”
Many will say “He MUST tell us where he stands!” No, he doesn’t have to. He will vote and encourage others to vote, because people died to get the vote. He will stay to have his vote counted. However, if he chooses not to, it doesn’t make you a better or worse person than he is.
We ridicule people who believe in God and ridicule people who don’t believe in God. Beyond puerile fanatical reasons, why isn’t your own life a compelling and persuasive reason why another person should believe in God or not believe in God? Do people look at you & want to be you?
We ridicule people who are married & ridicule people who are single. Why are you not content with your own choices? Why are you so insecure in yourself that you must attack others to be comfortable with your choices? Is your life so exemplary that others will want to emulate it?
We ridicule people who choose to have children and ridicule people who choose not to have children or want to have children but are unable to do so, through no fault of theirs. Do you seriously believe that you are better that someone else? Over something that you can’t design?
I know family of four that have a rare genetic condition that is unique to their family and has been passed on from generation to generation for about 200 years. All four of them met and decided that, to stop the condition for humanity, NONE of them will have children.
They decided to sacrifice their desire to have children (in their own case) for something that eliminates a genetic condition in the human race. Do you see how foolish it is for you to ridicule others, just because you can choose the month of conception and it will happen?
You don’t have to agree with other people’s choices, but don’t bully them for their choices. If your choices are superior, your own life, achievements and disposition should speak for you. As we say in law, “Res Ipsa Loquitor”: the thing speaks for itself. Does your life? End!
