(So 3rd attempt writing this thread. Now condensed)

#DnD World Building thread:

I'm writing up a largely sandy island for a #DnD5e campaign 🏝 The island is loosely shaped like a spear head, with a mountain ridge running along what might be seen as the spears ridge / fuller 🗡
I love the phonetic sounds of the Arabic language for this location. I'm currently thinking the island is called internationally as Al 'Ard Ramali. Which roughly translates to The Land of the Spear. Is that too many syllables for a countries name? Does it flow? ⁉
At the very tip of the island (the pointy end), is the capital, a large trading port city that is literally & physically split in two ⚓ It is known for trading in exotic items, precious metals & precious gems. Due to the desert environment that largely covers the island, food...
..is insufficiently produced and is shipped in in large quantities, making for the 2nd main import to the island📦Part of the city is kept for the extremely wealthy population, physically walled off and restricted to the non-elite populous 💰 What could this area be called?
Both 'blade' sides of the island contain their own towns and villages, with populations generally decreasing as you move away from the capital. Most inhabitants have some form of fishing at their heart; being a stable source of food 🎣 What could certain towns also be know for?
1 blade is distinctively more narrow than the other. This is the wind swept side; suffering constant high winds from the coast 🌊 This side is the only place on the island that see's anything close to seasonal rainfall throughout the year. It is steep & covered in dense jungle 🌴
On the other side of the spear, the 2nd blade if you will, large sprawling desert lay in the rain-shadow of the mountain range. Fishing villages dot the coast, while a few industrial mining towns have sprung up on the range. What could they be mining? ⛏🗻
Towards the socket of the spear, furthest end from the capital, a large mountainous volcano, Altinin ('The Dragon'), dominates the desert skyline 🌋 Two large smoking vents have been dubbed Nostrils, due to the ever constant choking smoke that spews from them.
This is my brain dump so far ...

I hope you enjoyed it.

#DnD Question for you all:

Q1) What is the main abundant / common race that dominates Al 'Ard Ramali population?

Q2) What type of monster (or a specific monster / entities) finds its natural home in the mountain?

Q3) What would be a suitable name for the mountain range?

A very rough sketch of Al 'Ard Ramali, with the 8 biggest cities & towns shown. Each location is unnamed at the moment, but their notable trait or feature is listed.

Used the DMG as a helpful aid.

What do you think?
