A brief history of the world since 1995:

The effects of Chinese economic reforms and the linking of computers started to be felt. This increased flows of capital and information at a global scale just as the discovery of the new world and the printing press had in the 15th C.
This was a 500 year shift. In the 15th Century the distance from the printing press in Mainz and and from an Atlantic port determined how quickly society would adapt to the post feudal world. The closer you were to these two things the quicker medieval guilds and fairs...
...were replaced by joint stock companies and capital markets. Today, traditional companies are being replaced by platforms, which control influence outside of their balance sheet by acting as hub in a network and at the same time the characteristics of production have changed.

Chinese Communist wanted to do away with Chinese scripts and replace it w full Latin alphabet. But something happened along the way. We ended up with Simplified Chinese characters instead. I will talk about this history in this thread

Switch Chinese writing to full Latin alphabet had the support of Chinese Communist Party leadership after establishment of PRC. Zhou Youguang 周有光, Banker returning from New York was tasked with creating Chinese Romanization program. The result is Pinyin System

1. From a pure economic/financial perspective this branding campaign doesn't make sense.... unless, you realize a much bigger picture. A hidden bigger picture.
2. On its face, it just seems absurd. Why would any major corporation intentionally stake out a branding position that is adverse to their financial interests?
3. I've spoken to some very excellent business actuaries on this today; and one specific conversation finally helped to make it all make sense.
