So the instructors appear to be from a Cyprus-based PMC called Vegacy Strategic Services Ltd. 10/

According to its website, its members performs fixed-site security, VIP protection, a variety of training courses, and "psychodiagnostic" evaluation. Their main emphasis appears to be marine security for ships, offshore platforms, and ports. 11/

Thread: in an interview with Kommersant, FSVTS Director, Dmitry Shugaev, confirms that Russian exported $15 billion worth of arms last year (involving 50 countries), and that its arms export portfolio is $55 billion (the same figure he gave in November).

Not surprisingly, he emphasized the demand for Russian weapons that had been tested in Syria, like the Kornet ATGM (though the alleged boon to Russian arms sales from Syria never really materialized). He said he was a little concerned about the few orders for naval products. 2/
He said that Russia would try to move beyond the buyer-seller relationship by emphasizing technology transfer or localized production arrangements (like the Project 11356 frigate deal with Goa Shipyards in India) to increase the share of naval equipment in Russia's portfolio. 3/

Just days after 2 Su-34 tactical bombers collided and crashed in the Far East, a Russian Tu-22M3 crashed today while attempting to land at the Olenegorsk airfield in Murmansk. 3 crew members died and the fourth is in critical condition.

This specific bomber was built in 1986 and overhauled by the 150th Aircraft Repair Plant in Kaliningrad in 2012. The initial reports point to bad weather conditions as a contributing factor.
Based off the overhaul detail, BMPD notes that this must be the Tu-22M3 (tail red # 35) of 40th Mixed Aviation Regiment. There is another Tu-22M3 with a red tail # 35, but it is located in Kaluga with the 52nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment.

Another article that incorrectly talks about the so-called "Gerasimov Doctrine" and criticizes the US for preparing for the wrong fight. Of course, the Russian military has greater capabilities today than in 2008, but new capabilities≠a new doctrine.

Gerasimov's now-famous article in VPK was taken from a speech he gave to Soviet veterans of the war in Afghanistan, which is an unlikely place to announce a new military doctrine. His speech described how he believed warfare had changed, specifically what the US was doing. 2/
Much of this was not new. Russian officials have long said that the Color Revolutions (the article emphasizes the Arab Spring as well) were orchestrated by the US and the CIA, often using NGOs as an intermediary (which is why Russia cracked down on foreign NGOs). 3/

Bread subsidies are intertwined with subsidies on energy products. Bakeries receive both wheat & fuel from Syrian Govt at below market prices and commit to specific amount of bread production and weight per pack of bread. Many cheat on both and sell the wheat & fuel to black mkt
