For those who want to make the shutdown a political contest: There is no wall. It would never actually get built. Trump shut the government down to force this win/loss narrative in the media to get Democrats to pay for a re-election talking point
This shouldn’t be news by now, but Trump uses the media’s weakness to his advantage. He knows horse race politics-as-usual coverage drains all meaning from every issue. Stop assisting this strategy and stop harming the country.
This country can’t get better unless the lens of politics changes from is this a win or a loss for this politician to is this a win or a loss for the people. It’s as simple as it gets, but the media has continued making this mistake for decades and it’s reaped unbelievable damage
