These polls are just absolutely meaningless. They ask whether viewers approve of language that has been tested to death by pollsters and whether they approve of lies that have no relation to truth. It's useless and damaging, and it's always been useless and damaging.
The way we cover politics is broken. We pretend like the rhetoric employed to manipulate people is the story, that it's whether a manipulation of the people worked, whether they'll be manipulated instead of whether it's good for the country or decent.
Trump spoke in platitudes. He dressed his racist and fictional agenda in tested language and rhetoric. It wasn't a matter of whether he was honest or whether he was stating anything that would help people, it was whether the language that was tested was test correctly.
When we poll what we're doing is testing whether the previously polled language was tested correctly. That's all. It has nothing to do with how the country is going to be governed, it's whether political scientists, pollsters, and speechwriters were successful.
The people who do these polls, the people who present these polls on TV, they know this. They're well aware of what they're doing. And yet, they...keep...on...doing...it. This cycle has to stop, it has to go away, because it is part of what's wrong with this country.
