Gotta admire the creativity of this Trump dead-ender. He’s spent the last hour coming up with every possible (and some impossible) explanations for why Trump’s cave was ACTUALLY a big win!
Just about every Trump branded product has failed, but Trump Kool-Aid is apparently quite a potent brew.

1. Really compelling essay...highly recommend it. The basic argument here--that we are living through a moment when the reigning socio-economic paradigm is in crisis and on the verge of shifting--resonated with me in a distinctively generational way.
2. I was 12 when Reagan took office. At the risk of oversimplification, that moment signaled the end of the New Deal Order as the reigning socio-economic paradigm. Goldwater had put the first major shot across the NDO's bow in '64. In 1980, Reagan slayed it.
3. The new socio-economic orthodoxy was "government is bad, markets are always good." Over the course of the 80s and the 90s the Democrats accommodated themselves to this new paradigm, producing the "New Democrats" of the Clinton 90s.

It was a Saturday Shoe Polishing Day this late morning. Started at 10am.
First, always make sure the shoe's verandah are brushed and blackened. Keep black, black. Brown, brown. Clear, neutral. It's essential.
Then you layer the leather with shoe wax as thinly as possible. In circular motion until it fades to a blur. Repeat at least 5 more time. Allow it to form a haze, and then take a lint free clothes to wipe it off. My left Florsheim Brogue in light brown uses neutral to keep color
